Goodness! It's been forever since I've posted. It's a new year, so I'm going to start it off by writing more. I think life just gets so overwhelming sometimes that it's hard to have the time to focus on putting words together... so I haven't given a lot of thought to what I'm writing here today. It will mostly be... what is they call it? ...stream of consciousness or something? At least maybe it will get my creative juices flowing, eh?
I spent most of yesterday going through a mountain of boxes that has been lurking here since we moved 4 months ago. It was really starting to get to me, but oh, what a job. Most of the critical stuff has long since been put away, so this was like 20 boxes of miscellaneous clutter... like what you'd find in your kitchen junk drawer but multiplied a hundred times! LOL! I find it very tedious to go through things like that. Some of it, obviously, can easily be chucked... but other stuff is harder to let go of. You know the old say, though, "A place for everything and everything in it's place..." The hard thing is to decide on a place for everything! At least for me, that's the biggest challenge. Anyway, I didn't get through with that project yesterday, but I did make good progress... enough to encourage me to get back to it as soon as I can.
Anybody have any great de-cluttering tips for the new year?

1. Keep (Use this sparingly, important documents, cherished mementos)
2. Undecided (Use for stuff you might want to keep, but do not need to keep)
3. Trash (Use for anything you know you will not need, have not used in months, haven't thought of in months, etc)
Sort through all the stuff 1 box at a time. If you set aside 20 minutes here or there to do that, it won't seem as over whelming. Put all keep items back into the now-empty box, for now. Keep the maybe's out, and when you have time in a day or two, resort it to see if it's stuff you want or not. If you can't make up your mind after a few days, then it's probably not important enough to keep, so pitch it.
Try to aim to get 1 box done per day. Once the boxes are done, move to the shelves and closets in the house. Treat objects the same way- keep, undecided, trash (or, donate). Aim to get rid of at least half of the stuff you sort, and you should declutter in no time at all.
It is good to rearrange furniture and files a bit. It does help you find more things.
