In case someone is looking for a cat or a kitten and wants to foster first, the Animal rescue league in Boston is looking for a temporary home for some kittens while they find permanent homes for them. Apparently, they are overloaded right now with cats and their kittens. My co-worker has done this in the past, fostered kittens while they get big enough to be adopted out to real homes, and it's great – but a word of warning – they are a lot of work b/c they are so little, and it's not easy to give them up. If you have ever tried to feed a 3 week old kitten, it's not easy. If you're interested just let me know, I will put you in touch with the right person…or, if you know someone who might want to foster, just forward this on. Thanks!
The Boston Branch currently has many kittens that are in need of foster
care, and are asking urgently for your help. Our foster homes provide much
needed short-term care and housing for many animals throughout the year,
so they can go on and find a permanent adoptive home. Currently, the
animals that need foster care are:
1) Coco, and her kittens - Coco arrived in late July with 5 young kittens,
and has been waiting for a foster home since that time.
2) Mango - Mango arrived very pregnant and gave birth to 7 kittens in the
shelter last week. It is important that Mango and her kittens find a
foster home soon for the health of her kittens
3) Jade - Jade was abandoned last week by her previous home, and is going
to give birth any day now. We are looking for a home where she can go to
safely have her babies.
4) Orphan kittens - We have 2 litters of 3-week old kittens that need a
foster home to provide care and socialization outside of the shelter.
Even if you are only able to foster this one time, it would make a huge
impact for these animals.

Have meant to ask you before--where'd you get your icon pic of yours truly, a Sun Capricorn, sign of the mountain goat? Mah-h-h-h! I look quite lovely and fluffy...or is that you?
Yes, the current cat I have is a stray that was thrown out by a dumpster with his sister when they were just 4 months old. I find that strays make the best pets as they are so greatful to have a loving home.
To learn more about my sheep (it's been my online identity since September 2005) you can click on the icon in my namespace. As a Capricorn it was unentional for me to pick a sheep to represent my sign. :) It's more just my way of remembering my vacation in Iceland each and every day I'm online to use the icon.
The ones who were unwanted once always seem to love more. I like that your local paper does that. My area has a couple of no-kill shelters (one is called Buddy Dog) and people go during their lunchbreaks to walk them. There's another one where they have kiddie pools for the dogs. :)
Don't know if there were any takers on the kitties, I'll have to ask my co-worker
