Janie and I are off to the woods for a couple weeks, but first we have to cross Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Western Kansas (what I call Denver and the east slope of the Rockies), and then over the top of the mountains in to Colorado.
Today we had lunch at - I forget the name. It was a Mexican restaurant attached to a gas station. It looked like a family operation and it was. Part of the charm was the sign taped to the wall above each table.

"We are trying to keep this: Su Casa. Nice and clean. Please don't destroy the table cloth. Thank you. Management."
This drew my attention to the plastic sheet over each table top, under which there was a lace table cloth. I thought, "Why put a lace table cloth on the table if you were going to cover it with plastic?" I then reached under the plastic to feel the table cloth, and it was plastic too. I stopped thinking about it.
I ordered coffee and asked if they had yellow sugars. "Pink or white" said the watron. I said just cream would be okay. When she brought my coffee over, I knew this was a Gather moment.

It came in a BP styrofoam cup : )
I settled in for a microwave burrito experience, knowing with that attitude it could only go up hill, and it did. The burrito was made with ground beef and wasn't very tasty. But it was better than a Taco Bell or Taco John's.
Janie reports her chicken enchilada was good.

The best thing for me were the condiments - habanero products. I smothered my burrito in the green sauce and it improved greatly.
About this time we overheard Wyatt telling his mom - the proprietor - how to make diamonds. We didn't catch it all and asked him to start from the beginning for us. Here it is (almost):
"You get a lump of coal. And then you get a clam and a pearl."
"You mean an oyster. Pearls come . . . " his mom said.
" . . . an owy-ster and a pearl. You put the pearl in the oyster, and then you put it in the microwave - (or do you deep fry it, I don't remember)."
Wyatt's attention wandered, and we never quite got to the point where the coal comes in.
No diamonds for us.
