Rusted Rides : Rural Ohio In Pictures
George Corneliussen
This special edition of "Rural Ohio In Pictures" features the rusted remains of once new and shiny cars and trucks that graced the farmlands of Ohio in the 1940's and 1950's. To the farmer of the 1940's and 1950's these vehicles were as much a part of the farm as their cattle and crops were. All pictures are copyrighted.

Thanks for checking in. Old car and trucks never die, they just become yard art.
To be fair, in many cases these old relics have an entire family's memories attached to them. They all make it to the bone yard sooner or later, it just that for some it's much later.

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words. Hope you like the rest of the series.
I'm with you. In my mind, I see these old beauties when they were rolling out of the showroom, and how proud the original owners must have been of their new treasures.
These old hunks of nostalgia have a warm place in my heart. I have already told Bill that when we get our land, I have to find an old rusted out truck and tractor for the lawn. Luckily, here in Ohhoho they ain't hard to find.
Hi, what the landscape like in your neck-of-the-woods ?
The scary part is that some of them are still on the road. The mother of one of my wife's piano students was driving on the local Interstate about two weeks ago, when a car passed her. As it did, the car's fender flew off and smashed into her grill.
She was O.K., but the "fender flinger" never stopped and she had to pay for the damage out of her own pocket.
Thanks, glad you enjoy them. I'll keep clickin' away.
Thanks, and a tip o' the hat.
Good eye, that is in fact a Chevy. I'll bet in it's day, it to ran like a charm.
Even new equipment has a message.
It's especially interesting when the old wrecks are sitting next to the new machines. It makes for real organic art.
Yeah, when you think about how these dinasaurs must have looked when they were new, and what they must have meant to those who owned them the stories start flying.
Yes, horse and rider faded into history.
I'm always tempted to throw a new battery in them and give them a crank.
Thanks. The depth of what the countryside has to offer is amazing, isn't it ?
You bet, you know whoever owned that truck talked to it on a regular basis.
loved them all. There's an abandoned truck near my
office, seems like it's been there for decades, which
has been converted by an enterprising young man into
a 'take-away' fast food joint. Will take a picture and show you.
Abandoned vehicles tell a story, I have noticed.
Sofia in Bulgaria, is chockful with them.
Cheerz!
A fast-food joint made out of an abandoned truck; now that's art !

Glad you like then, and I agree. Beauty is in the lens of the beholder.
Thanks. Not to worry, "I ain't even started yet ".
