this morning, we made some homemade bathtub finger paints. it was such fun to make a mess and have it be so easily cleaned up!! right after our artistic endeavors, we showered for a two-fer cleanup (the bathtub, and us). please excuse any grout mess that we forgot to cover up with the paint.

here's the recipe:
1/3 cup clear dishsoap (try to find the most unscented you can)
1 T cornstarch
mix it up well. put it into an empty ice cube tray. add a few drops of color, as desired, to each section of finger paint. head into the bathroom and paint to your heart's delight! use old toothbrushes, or fingers, or paint brushes. it will wash off quite easily.

a few days ago, we purchased on ebay a box of girl's dressup clothes. her hand-me-down barbie princess dress is looking a little ragged around the edges. lillie wears it every single day. she wakes up and dons the dress before emerging from the bedroom. such is the way of a true princess, you know. when it came today, unbeknownst to her, we told her she'd gotten a package that needed to be opened. such fun. she was elated! incredibly astonished. so happy. worth every penny. the favorites are a pair of fairy wings, a pink leotard, skirt, and feather boa and matching shoes (oh my). she's not taken it off, except to change into something else from the box. we had quite the tea party, being royalty and having such good manners. we also played store, and she bought different outfits for her fairy friends. i told her if she bought 5 items, she'd get 50% off. what a way to work in the math, eh?

currently, she's wearing a cinderella dress and dancing to the songs on american idol. such fun in the life of a well-loved little girl. the coolest part? we do this stuff every day. love it!

Do you ever wonder what she will be when she's grown? A writer? An actress? A peace corp volunteer?
i think gather should contract with someone to publish our stuff if we want. i'd love to get all these essays into a book for her. i know, i should go to mypublisher and do it. :) still hoping that a huge publisher can't enough of lillie and just offers me a huge contract! haha. yes, just like i hope someone will come and ask for our cat. haha.
yes, i often wonder what lillie will be interested in, when she grows up. hopefully, the world is her oyster!
thank you, everyone!
clare - no new camera as of yet. still researching....thanks, everyone!!
They are on my fridge in a place of honour :-)
mariana - makeup, for art supplies? brilliant! like blush, or what? i don't wear much makeup (in fact, i just threw some out. from our wedding. hadn't been worn since. drat!)....smart! lillie doesn't like newsprint paper. paper snob! that's ok. we love discount school supply....yes, they DO grow up fast!!! thanks!
You gotta love tha pink outfit. It looks like it must glow in the dark.
Thanks for sharing Princess Sea with us. I really enjoy how much you two enjoy each other.
There are a million up sides to adopting older children. The down side is missing this stage of their lives.

How creative can you be, darlin'? And how lucky can both you and Lillie be to have each other and constantly search life for it's most precious moments.
I can't wait to mix up a batch of this for my grandson when he's old enough! Tell Lillie her Auntie G wants a pair of those STUNNING pink pumps!!!
Have had a somewhat rough morning on Gather - but am glad I found the sunshine here!
gisela - hope you're ok - don't want that rough morning. come on through to the sunshine. welcome back!!
nathan - thank you! i don't think they are fresh and special, particularly. thank you! when you live it, it just seems normal. i do feel lucky to be alive, with such a great family, and in a lovely lake location (although the weekenders are already here and making tons of noise. sigh)...thanks!
Creative play all the way!
Thanks for the recipe too!
