while sputtering and wobbling uncontrollably at the edge. A small rock - probably limestone, he reasoned - slipped out from beneath his left foot and began it's long, arduous plunge towards the waters below.

He stood ther watching it's descent with weird satisfaction. He solemnly thought that all his problems would disappear if he were that stone. He wouldn't have to come up with answers anymore. He wouldn't have to worry about the solutions to his problems.
He text messaged a letter to his wife and children. He layed down his cell phone under a nearby huge rock, and slowly made his way back to the edge.

A slight nausea trembled his insides. He feared he would be drawn inexorably in black ink, wavering, ever wavering on the edge. With the greatest of effort he pulled back from the brink or he would leap onto the back of a large eagle soaring within the cavernous plunge. Yes that was it. a beautiful woman appeared before him. He just stood there in utter amazement. wondering what he had done to set eyes on such a creature. Her hair was bright red and her body was to die for. she wore the slinkiest dress you could imagine. He thought to himself,"Am i alive?"

But then his stomach growled and his thoughts turned back to the cheese sandwich. He quickly walked past the beautiful women - knowing full well he hadn't enough cheese or bread for the two of them.

Then she spoke and her voice sounded like the sweetest music he'd ever heard. She told him to please wait, she had food and she really needed to talk to him. Dizzy, he sat, and she sat beside him, pulling out of seemingly nowhere, a linen tablecloth and mounds of food, the likes of which he'd never seen, nevermind eaten.

it was such a lavish spread of cheeses and fruits, a lovely bottle of wine with crystal glasses. she asked him to help her eat it. he looked at his cheese sandwich with disdain,but she took it and broke it in half,feeding him the sandwich and laughing while he chewed. she had such a sweet laugh. she fed him grapes and strawberries dipped in chocolate,different cheeses and crackers and poured him a glass of wine to help wash it down. she licked her fingers and he just stared at her,wondering what to do next.

Then, almost in the blink of an eye, came from out of the gorge a strange creature. This creature looked like nothing he ever laid his eyes on before, and hoped never to again. The being was the normal size of a grown human. It's shoulders sprouted from where the creatures ears should've been, and arched over to form legs, yes, legs, not arms. Feet like that of a humans, ten toes slapped the ground as they began to patter toward him. Instead of a nose, a pumpkin like thing protruded from his face. Nostriles were shaped funny that gave the nose the appearance of a jack-o-lantern. No lips, no teeth, but something that resembled a hand puppet rather than a mouth...

All of a sudden, Franklin realized something. Franklin wanted to run, Franklin wanted to love, Franklin wanted to eat more of that a stale cheese sandwich. Well, Franklin wanted to - Franklin wanted to - Franklin wanted to! He began, first to run away from the monstrosity that was heading his way, kiss the beautiful woman, and then return to work. He was just on his lunch hour. "Oops," he muttered, "I'm going to be fired." He began to laugh out loud. Walked to his old rusted out 1984 white dodge shortbed pickup truck. While starting the thing, it exploded and burst in a billion blazing pieces, that ended up burning everything around - except the gorge of course.

Thrown clear by the explosion, a dazed Franklin beat on the smoldering cuffs of his frayed Pendleton shirt and staggered toward the road. The screech of brakes and the blare of an 18 wheeler's air-horn snapped Franklin back to the reality that lost in thought, without looking he'd stepped out into the path of a truck. "God damn," he screamed in unintentional blasphemy as he turned to run trying desperately to speed out of the way of the now fishtailing big rig and trailer. "God, I want to live!" he screamed....

Just then, a deer jumped in front of the 18 wheeler and it went in the ditch as it tried to swerve out of the way. "Yes, I will live!" He shouted as he sped back to the city to make it to work in time. Then he heard a slight sputtering sound. The car was out of gas.....

"I'll be fired for sure. What am I going to do?" He jumped out of his car and looked in the trunk, although he knew there was no gas can in there. Intent on his useless search, Franklin jumped at the sound of a trucker's horn. Not just any horn either, it was the horn of gasoline tanker. The driver jumped down and walked over to Franklin's car.
