My dad used to tell me that the voting booth was a place to put up or shut up. He was mostly right. You have to cast a ballot to have a complaint.
But that's only part of the duty, really. You also have (in my opinion) a responsibility to talk about the election, to work through the reasons you might back a candidate. In other words, you have to engage in discussion prior to voting (or in our case, attending a caucus).
So how about taking a shot at engaging several dozen of your neighbors at a forum... a discussion that will, in turn, be broadcast to tens of thousands of others.
On February 4 MPR News puts a spotlight on the voters with a forum hosted by Midday's Gary Eichten - that focuses on the issues that motivate you to get behind a candidate, to attend the caucuses or even, perhaps, to stay away.
