President Bush and our Washington leaders are setting down a plan to "stimulate the economy." Perhaps it's more like that moment when the ship with a leak starts listing and you grab the nearest thing to stay afloat.
But the centerpiece - or at least the thing getting attention - is putting money in our pockets. Tax rebates are proposed - somewhere around $800 as an average.
Minnesota Public Radio News is keen to know - what would you do with the money? And, more importantly, would this really help your economic situation? You can let a newsroom ready to work on this issue know by clicking this link.

This lower number of jobs made for jobs program that worked, the jobs programs created since that time have been watered down as a larger and larger percentage of the population are children or retired. Currently, a larger percentage will be retired than ever before, and the number of school children are dropping.
Are the rebates to taxpayers the logical successors to jobs programs? I don't know, But job programs are toast.
(pasted my answer this from a similar thread)
I mean does Coleman really ignore some of the systemic problems - health care, for example. Does Franken really try to push more radical reform (health care is a great example here too)?
A: Put it in the bank for the day I am taxed to repay it.
That's one way to have an even playing field, I guess.
The Independence party will have someone running for Senate, either announced at the convention this Saturday, or after the vetting process. I'm glad I didn't have to make that choice between lesser evils this year.

So true, borrowing while we are in deficit spending just means that we have to pay back even more money and we get even less bang for our tax dollar because of the increased interest we will have to pay.
We can't tax our way out of a recession.
> government health care? So we tax more
> during a recession? You are digging a deeper hole.
The Neo-Republican argument in a nutshell, tax the
people, refund to the rich, deficit spend and pay interest
to the rich and claim we cannot afford social programs
like every other Western Democracy.
Why do we let the evolutionary throwbacks run the
country, simple, Americans are too stupid to
understand evolution, they are still impressed
by dinosaurs I guess.
Typical marxist speak on your part.
can't even call it an argument, just supposed to
be an insult I guess .... marxist, socialist, communist,
it's great to socialize the risk for corporations and
give away stuff to the rich ... no real name for that,
but when it is something that helps everyone call
it communist.
A bit of newspeak there Winston, for sure.
should the government be in the business of income redistribution? Should the government have the right to forcably take the income from one person and give it to another?
A yes or no answer is all I need.
