If you're like me, you spend a lot of your life on auto-pilot. As long as things are going well there's no reason to kick up a fuss. But what happens when we hit a snag? When do we decide to shut off the auto-pilot and speak up?
For our next episode, In The Loop is looking at when we decide to take a stand -- in big or small ways -- on the causes that matter to us. We want to hear your stories! Tell us about that "tipping point" when a person decides that enough is enough . . . and chooses to take action.
1. Have you been more or less inclined over time to speak up about the issues you care about? Why?
2. Do you know anyone (including yourself) who was forced to take a stand by circumstance out of their control?
3. Do you know anyone who is protesting something that might be considered an unusual or surprising cause?
4. How about someone who carries out her or his protest in an unusual way?
No examples is too personal or too small! We want to hear tales that go beyond the big and obvious examples of unrest (like over the war in Iraq for example). We want to hear stories that may surprise us but ultimately help illustrate what it means to take a stand in our daily lives.
The clock is ticking toward our next show. So send us your ideas now: http://www.mpr.org/loopactivism
Thanks!
