Greetings to our Gather friends and followers! Somewhat belatedly, I am happy to offer up to you the latest edition of "The Loop" from Minnesota Public Radio (we were so busy getting the show on the air that I apologize I did not post it to Gather sooner). Our topic this time: "Crossing Borders," a look at the omnipresent immigration debate using interviews, sound-rich stories, music, and -- yes -- humor. The show is available for download or streaming.
This time we took a major step by "performing" the show before an audience of about 75 people, who joined us to ask questions of our guests and offer up their own thoughts on must-know aspects of U.S. culture. It's got a fresh sound, and we're hoping this format can help pioneer some new ways of interacting with our audience.
The response to our effort to stir up some material with the Gather community for this immigration show was...um...modest . This surprised me, since our previous attempt yielded some great material. We intend to keep working with Gather in the future to integrate it into the show. What are your ideas for what we can do better to make you all a part of our process? How do you think Gather can serve as a place to collaborate and help build a radio show? What role would you like to play?
As always, spread word of the show and encourage anyone you like to join our network here, and on our web site, and help collaborate on future shows.
