Geotags - Love me or Hate em?

I have chosen NOT to use the Geotag feature for various reasons.

  1. I don't want people to see the location of my house
  2. It makes the image page too long
  3. I don't have to use it
  4. I don't want to use it
  5. Does it really matter the exact location it was taken

I see people who DO use the feature!  Do you like the Geotag feature or hate it?

I think it's kinda cool for some pictures, but for the most part, I don't really like it.

I am not using the Geo tags either, for the reasons you state.

Depends what the picture is of. If it is a building or place, then the tag is nice.

Ok, but I just don't want any (more) stalkers =) I actually did this on one of my photos & can not get geotag off, any ideas?

I love it. When I do Philadelphia pictures I don't ever show my house. I always click a different location.
I thought the coolest geotag was for my Bodie Island Lighthouse pictures. When you click on satellite image you can see the lighthouse! IT RULES!

I don't really see the need for them if people would just write captions for their photos of locations.

Some people feel that they make the photo pages load a lot slower too.

I don't use them for the same reasons you list. Plus, I don't really see a point to them. Like Marge said, there really isn't a need for them if people would just include the location in their captions.

Don't have to put it on your house, actually you are supposet to put where the picture was taken. Don't have to use it..

I don't like them. It's another way for google to make money off of something you've created, plus I noticed that the geotags slow down my computer big time when I upload images - whether I use the tags or not.

I think they are interesting for pictures that we taken on a vacation somewhere, but for the majority of the pictures. like of kids, families, and such I think it can be dangerous, especially if you put your home's location on there. If people would add where they took the picture on vacation, it could be avoided completely in my opinion.

I love it, but wouldn't use it on just any old photos. I like it when I go to the park to show where the park is and like to see different places when someone has photos of public places. Yet I don't see a reason to use it on shots I take at home or in private houses.

Don't use them. Might be okay for a park or recreational place, but I don't give out anymore than I have to. As you will notice, I don't have any photos of me or my family on here. Just Rocky, my dog.

I would not use them for personal photos or anything. And I was too busy uploading pics for the promotion to use it, or it would have been cool then.
I use them once in awhile for place that are away from my home. Like when we went to the Westin Hotel in Frisco, TX - I used them. I also used them today for a zoo picture that I posted from Tyler, TX. I don't live there, so it's ok to me, to use them.

I tried it once. I don't like it. It is more junk on the page not to mention all the other things you mentioned.

I did use it for when we were on vacation, but no I have no desire to disclose my exact location. Also I have found that it takes longer to go through photos, when there is a geotag attached.

Personally, I don't like the geotags. I don't need people knowing where I live or me having to repeat myself as to where the place is. I rather just mention the location in the caption.

So dont use them I do and still dont know where I live now do ya,,,
I use it with vacation or location photos, but not with shots taken at home.

I would like to see it set to NOT load when uploading unless you select it to be chosen- much like how the options to not have comments, or ratings, or what groups to post it to are hidden.

Bridget, I only use them when I am posting a picture of something like a river, or some other landmark. I do not use them for every day pictures and I never put in my home address! I am with you on that! But overall, I think they are kinda useless. That's just me though!

I have used them. I renamed it "Geo Stalker" because it was kind of scary how I entered my city and the little mark ended up practically on top of my house.

for the historical articles I write , they are ok...but not for my regular ones
I kinda of think it's cool! I haven't been using it on ones of things around the house, but since we've travelled so much the past couple of months, I've enjoyed being able to show ya'll where I've been as I'm posting my photos!
