There are some things in life
We all have to do ourselves.
Like dying.
Or saying, "I'm sorry."
Or deciding to learn in school
Instead of goofing around.
Or deciding what is right.
And what is not.
And realizing every day in hundreds of ways
Each decision we make
No matter how small
Leads to a life of integrity and honesty
Or a life of emptiness and futility.
Oh there is all kinds of of guides
To show us the way.
Most guides are honest and true.
Like friends and family,
Teachers and most preachers,
And Jesus is always true.
But it is up to you
To decide
Who will be your guide.
Will you choose death?
Or life?
The only one who can say
Is you.
