I love to walk. My little neighborhood is on the East Side of town. We're in an older section where houses still maintain their character. We chose this area because we wanted to live in a unique place. This area is rich in culture and ethnic diversity. On really sunny days, we walk to the beach. On cloudy days when the marine layer hovers, we walk up the hill. These are a few shots of my hill walk. I begin with an image in my own yard.

These beautiful shells were sent to me by Miz Debbie H., one of my precious friends who I met on Gather. She works in the cold waters off the coast of Maine and these were caught in the nets. They are now gracing my garden with the energy of the Atlantic Ocean. I will think of Debbie everytime I look at these little treasure. Thanks my friend!

Orange trees grow everywhere here in Santa Barbara. This one adorns one of my neighbor's yards. I say hello to it as I round the corner on the way up the hill.

My friend Patrick lives on this creek. It's called Sycamore Creek and runs down the mountains all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Patrick's entire yard is filled with every succulent imaginable as well as orchids and other flowering plants.

These spikey succulents always wave hello to me as I steadily climb up Alameda Padre Serra.

This hillside garden is usually my halfway mark. I know once I've past it, there's only a short ways to go.
This is one of the many views I have once I get to a nice high place. The palm trees in the distance are barely visible because of a heavy marine layer. My house is close to where that tall tree is to the right.
I'm finally going back down the hill. I touch a yellow post and begin my downward trek. It's much easier than walking uphill. I love all the lush vegetation.
Here I am back home again and greeted by one of the many works of art which decorate my gardens front and back. Thank you for joining me on my walk. Salud.

Taffy - girl, you took me by surprise! I love that name for you - it fits you to a T...lol...thanks - I do love to be amongst the flora, the fresh air, the rocks, everything...the images that I posted the other day are also from this same walk. Next time I'm in SB you'll have to take me along. I do miss all those beautiful areas, nice warmth, and the mountain views. We're expecting a storm overnight thru Saturday, so I'm jealous of your beautiful walk up to Padre Sera. I shall have to have a walk of my own. It's beautiful here as well, but oh so cold. But thanks for sharing the photos! S.
Miz Soyla, I'm so happy that you've joined Gather. You will love it and you can post some pictures of your paintings. By the way folks Soyla used to live in Santa Barbara and she's the one who painted the rock like a cat for me. She's extremely talented! Miz Ginger, thanks very much. Salud.
