Well, it's been quite a weekend and I sure do have some catching up to do here on Gather. First of all, I thought I'd share a teeny piece of trivia with you. Did you know that Adlolf Hitler's real name was Adolf Schickelgruber? Hahahah … couldn't help but laugh at that one!
First of all, on Friday on my way home from a doctor's appointment, I made sure to pick up some items to keep my granddaughter busy that evening. My older daughter was having a candle party and girl's night, so I was designated as the official overnight sitter. Hannah and I had a great time painting pictures, gluing Popsicle sticks and drawing. Then we settled down to watch Cheaper By The Dozen. At about 11 p.m., Hannah fell asleep, so I got on the computer for about an hour and finally hit the bed at midnight.
Of course, I was thinking that my sweet granddaughter would sleep in a bit Saturday morning, since she'd been up later than usual. NOT! She woke me up at 5:50 a.m.!!! And by 7 a.m., she had already hauled me over to the park with the dog for some playtime.
At about 10:00 a.m., we walked around the corner to my daughter's place and within minutes were off to the beach at Port Dover about an hour's drive away. We had both packed items for a picnic, along with beach towels, pool noodles and other assorted items. It was about 100 degrees, so we really enjoyed the brisk breezes off Lake Erie. While Andy looked for interesting rocks along the shore and Hannah went in the water, my daughter and I soaked up the sun. Later on, Eva went in the water with the children, while I stayed on shore reading. Then we all had a nice picnic lunch, after which Andy went swimming again and Hannah got into some serious sand digging.
After a thoroughly wonderful afternoon of sun, water and fun, we drove back toward home, but stopped along the way to get some supper. When I arrived home at about 5:30 p.m., my psychic friend, Annabel, was already in my living room giving her first reading for the night. My younger daughter had invited some friends, who couldn't attend her last psychic party to come over for their readings. Since Jen lives in the apartment below me, she had her guests there, but the readings were done in privacy in my place.
Naturally, I was in bad need of a shower since I was to attend a Plenty of Fish get together later that evening. So, the readings continued and I went ahead and got ready for this rather nerve-wracking event. You see, I am 56 years old and have never been to a specifically single's dance. A female friend dropped by about 9 p.m. and we headed out.
Boomers, the bar that POF had taken over for the night was pretty crowded by the time we got there and the only two seats we could find were right up at the bar. It turned out to be fine though, as many of the fellows needed to approach the bar to get their drinks. We always had people to chat with, so it was not as unnerving as I'd imagined. In fact, I met one fellow who seemed pretty nice and might just see him again. I'll have to think about that!
Sunday morning, I woke up totally exhausted and really not feeling well at all. I pretty much spent the morning and early afternoon lounging in bed – one of the benefits of living alone, I guess! About 2 p.m., I called my older daughter to see what she and the grandkids were up to. Her hubby was away all weekend in the states, so I figured she might like some company again. Shortly afterward, I headed over to her place where we lounged on the deck drinking Marguerites and then went for a swim in the pool. Again, the temperature was about 100 degrees and very muggy. Both of us were sunburned from the day before, so the cool water felt very, very good.
About 5 p.m., I arrived back home and hit the bed again. Though I couldn't sleep, I relaxed and watched some TV. In fact, I discovered a couple of reality shows I didn't know existed, including Hulk Hogan and his family and a couple of others with former Brady Bunch kids, now adults. Needless to say, I fell asleep early after this busy weekend – things just seem to wear me out a whole lot faster than they used to.
This morning, I had to be up early anyway, to see the grandkids off to school since my daughter started work at 7 a.m. I have to say though, that I feel sooooo much better today!
And how was your weekend?

Mary: Port Dover was awesome, though the beach was a bit crowded. I think lots of folks had the same idea. lol Yes, I believe we are about the same age. I think spending time with the young ones help us stay young too!
Pam, it was a perfect weekend for swimming, that's for sure. Glad you had a good one too.
