Hotel Aranjuez in San Jose Costa Rica

I felt inspired to post more photo's of Costa Rica today. These photo's are from the Hotel Aranjuez, where we stayed for our last visit to Costa Rica.

It's my favorite hotel, as it is a lush tropical oasis in the busy city of San Jose, plus they are ecologically responsible, using solar panels, composting food from breakfast, etc.

 With rooms starting at $29/night with an awesome breakfast with fresh fruit, pastries, eggs & more - you can't beat it~

This happy guy was at the desk most evening/nights. Someone was at the desk 24/7. He was always most helpful! I needed a fan (background noise) in my room & he got one for me~

Our room. Nothing fancy. The bathroom was to the right of the closet doors, had a safe that we used for our cash and jewelry.

My best friend Sheila, she has come with me to Costa Rica 3 times now! This was our last morning in CR.

Me on the right, with a friend that I knew. She actually arrived in CR about 10 days before we got there. She came to CR for the same reason I travel there.

My best friend Sheila, sorry about the flash...I was a very amature photographer when I was there last! Here we are in the same sitting area as the previous photo.

If I get the chance to travel to Costa Rica again, I will stay at this hotel. I loved their breakfast...with made to order omelettes, and such wonderful pineapple! We were withing walking distance of a few good restaurants & even the downtown area was only a 10-15 minute walk away.

Wonderful photo essay! What a lush garden at the hotel.  Who needs a luxury room if you are not going to be in it very much?  I like the mountains or the beach.

It looks like a great time - beautiful photos.  My favorite place I have been on vacation SO FAR is Hocking Hills State Park group campgrounds!!! We loved it and are going again this year.  I THINK my opinion will change though after we take the Disney Cruise next month... I have never been on a cruise and will probably love it more!

I couldn't imagine trying to get a nice hotel here for 29 a night.  I would love to be able to travel there and see it for myself.

Wow. What a great price for a place to stay. You can hardly find that price anywhere for something nice.

Thanks for the pictures. I don't know where I like to vacation. We have two small children and financially vacationing will be out of the question for a long while. We still do fun stuff though.

Thank you for the photos of a little country that I love. I almost chose this hotel last time I went. Now I won't hesitate to try it. I prefer being outside the big city though, don't you?

Being at this hotel, you did not feel like you were in the city at all! I will use this hotel anytime I am in CR in the future!

Priscilla, I loved seeing bananas growing over my head. It almost seemed like everybody's backyard had a single banana tree. I read that this is pretty much the case and otherwise you will only see bananas grown on plantations in C.R. My B&B was in Escazu, a suburb of San Jose. I stayed on the side of a mountain. Once I got oriented then I tried to walk up and down every time I wanted lunch in town rather than call a taxi. Taxis were so cheap though that I could pay for my own driver and go on daily sightseeing trips. Breakfast and then language school in the mornings but long drives and lots of sights in the afternoon. That's how I got to see so much of C.R. I only missed seeing one province but then Guanacaste is full of foreigners anyway.

I love Costa Rica & I hope to someday move there. Taxi's were cheap & so was the food! I had some favorite restaurants in San Jose~
