Paris
Oysters glisten
Champagne et chocolat
Jazzy accordion Nuages
Paris
Last night of bliss
Painting my impressions
Framed souvenir now on my wall
Paris
Time to return
J'entends the siren call
I must make a reservation

This is a republished article with an added stanza posted for Gather: Writing Essentials...Destination, Kimberly's prompt.
Springtime in Paris - what could be better?
A beautiful visual and tasty delight.
Laissez les bon temps roules!
Well-penned, G Janny.
"Oysters glisten
Champagne et chocolat"
still make my mouth water.
Thanks for the feature Kimberly and Kathryn. When I saw the destination prompt- Paris came immediately to mind.
I would love to go to Paris with you Mona, Liz, and Lady Bess!...not to mention several other cherished Gather gals.
In truth, we are hesitant to venture too far away because of my mother-in-law who has recently been falling a lot and is a regular at the local emergency room. Now she has a full time caregiver at her assisted living home and we hope that will prevent future falls.
I read elizabeth's post today for you...her visit to Paris while in FL, so now I'm glad I got to read this gorgeous piece ;-)
"My father always promised us
that we would live in France,
We'd go boating on the Seine
and I would learn to dance.
....I sail my memories afar
like boats across the Seine,
And watch the Paris sun
set in my father's eyes again."
(words and music by Judy Collins from 1968
on the album "Who Knows Where the Time Goes")
Your poem shapes some really dazzling fireworks presented with the festive personification of joy. Suddenly it is 1927 and the great transatlantic crossing of the young Lindbergh hits the headlines. Except that now the Spirit of Jan takes us there in full flight, an open-throttle journey in airborne verse with trans-cultural panache securely held in midair. A cafe of dreams intuitively realized!
travel abroad and treat my senses to some foreign seductions of my qualia.
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, oysters glisten...
Very nice, both verse and picture, Jan.
Masterfully done, Jan. You´ve stepped up so much in the intervening three years it´s really a dream come true--talented versifier becomes master class poet.
