I just got back from shooting some of the PGA pros that were competing in the FBR Open in Scottsdale. One afternoon, after the shoot, I went for a hike up to Pinnacle Peak. I've been there before, and it's so beautiful, I'm compelled to return every time that I find myself on assignment in Scottsdale.

This is a view as I make my way up the base. It's a moderate uphill hike to Pinnacle Peak, but the beauty is well worth the effort. The rim-lit Ocotillo bush in the right foreground was awe-inspiring to me.

I just love the Saguaro Cactus juxtaposed with the rocky formations. There's no polarizing filter use here. The sky is that blue at 2800 feet.

Some of the locals jog down the downhill parts of the trail, but, even though I'm usually a "power walker", I prefer to take my time, enjoying the views.

This is close to "Owl's Rest" about halfway to the end of the 2-mile hike (4 miles roundtrip).
I missed the "golden light" this trip, but the geography and flora still sparkled.
