Jeremy and Vere flew down from Eremite Mesa (located in Arizona) to this unremarkable area of India which was covered in dust. They were overexcited. Yet they were ignorant with this undiscovered truth of nature. For them few questions were still unanswered. What will happen here, they wondered. While spinning in their spheres of life, they quickly arrived at this conclusion. They both whispered a daily prayer as they wandered for serenity and for the sheerest happiness.
What were the reasons, for they considered this small and different town, was not encountered yet. They both adhered to their choice. Leading an austere life, Jeremy and Vere finally found a couple who were referenced by their Indian friend. What empowered their hearts to come to India were medical tourism: low costs, highly-qualified doctors, and a more relaxed legal atmosphere. They pampered their dream not for wealth or fame but with a need to be fathered and to be mothered.
Shereraman, who was a poor painter, was not able to educate his two children with his salary of $50 monthly. He was surrounded with his own scattered thoughts "without doing anything immoral, what are the other ways to earn money ?" This simmered his mind at this thought which always cowered Sheredurga, his wife. Their economic ozonosphere rendered them quivered and tired. Though due to an interethnic and conservative society they were hovered between ‘yes' or ‘no', Shereraman thought if he will get extra money, their life may be transformed, which has been hampered so far because of money. Sheredurga's soul conquered on her verdict. She would invest in her children's education and in buying a new home. With a belligerent tone they both stood against the norms of the clobbered civilization. When their depressed souls met with Jeremy and Vere, they towered over the bridge of emotions.
Knowing their ‘Yes' Vere was fluttered. They twittered their happiness like a ceremony. Embracing Sheredurga, Vere wept bitterly. They smothered each other with affection.Sheredurga and Shereraman discovered an adjacent rural community to keep the pregnancy an undisclosed one. Otherwise they will be severely treated like social pariahs. They knew that surrogacy is yet to be widely accepted here in their culture.
Eight months pregnant, Sheredurga is like any other expecting mother, except that the child she's carrying isn't her own. Thereby a covered harsh truth was waiting where she realized it as an irreverent truth. When Sheredurga gives birth next month in this small Indian town, the newborn will be straight away handed over to its biological parents, non-resident Indians who live in USA and who have been unable to bear a child on their own. In return for renting her womb, Sheredurga will be paid $10,000 - a significant sum by Indian standards.
Has she rented her hereditary? Has she murdered her sentiments, butchered her motherhood? As a mother, Sheredurga will perenate with age but her maternal affection and need for her baby will never die. Is she a mere surrogate mother or a real mother?
Serenading her womb, she felt mere silence and a small hand encircling her fingers.

Beautiful photo BTW. That must be a very hard thing for Sheredurga.
Yes,this was a very sensitive topic for me to write and while writing I was very careful.Plz see this woman (Shreredurga) as an uneducated woman who is unaware of few technical realities.
Thanks Ernie...
You are very daring to try this type of writing. I don't know how you do it. But you succeed with a fanfare.
Your image is so beautiful. It has a mystique and symbolism that holds my attention.
About the subject let me say this. I want in my heart for Shreredurga to be able to provide for her children. $ 10 000 is a lot of money in India and it will get her children out of the poverty cycle.
She did give birth to a child...that's true. But she didn't abandon it. She gave it to a loving couple that will love the child and bring it upi in a new world.
For the couple the child will be the greatest gift that anyone could give them.
Shreredurga need never have bad feelings. She has spread happiness. In fact, she has increased the world's happiness.
Well done Shreregurga and Bhawana... you're both stars in my heaven.
You are the closest one who caught my feelings .I was very nervous while writing this because it was not just a story but something very pious .I was careful while choosing the words and developing the story.
Thanks for understanding it so well and for all your appreciation. Each time I am more encouraged to write more and more.
I agree with your feelings Fred.Because she was an uneducated and she was not capable of earing ,she selected this option to get rid of their problems. You are right that $10,000 is a lot of money for India.
Thanks for such deep thoughts.
You are very good at these challenges, a 10 I will give you.
Thanks!!!
Great image..it goes so well with the last para..little fingers gripping the mother's fingers. Sheredurga will never forget this child...neither will the NRI couple forget her compassion. I wonder, what all does poverty make people do? It's a terrible thought.
You manage to paint a believable picture of two mutually needful couples petty well.
By the way, I found one mistake (When).
I would like to talk about after the reply.
Thanks Bhawana ERE went great with the paras and pros.
Thanks Lemzo,Shah and Dear Lyla
Because, the real love for the child can only be blessed by the real mother (The birth mother), the bio. mother can give good care but not the true love. There is always a question that kid would ask later about her mother.
And the only reason she did it for money to give birth to a child from the sperms of a stranger person.
Religiously it is restricted. Thanks
But beautiful writing and a story tht needs to be told.
