On Sunday I got to check off another site I had been wanting to visit- The Petersburg National Battlefield in Petersburg, VA. We did the driving tour, but I have to say there was wonderful trails. There wasn't anywhere near the number of people at this park as there was in Gettysburg. It was so peaceful and quiet- we ate some salad in the picnic area and the stillness was awesome.
I must confess, I did wonder if the spirits were watching us. I felt like we were watched. As we drove around the battlefield we stopped at the Sutler Store replica, then we went onto to all the "forts" which were earthworks that were left. Then we saw the remainer of a brick house and the "Crater" which was a huge hole in the ground from the explosions. I listened to the story of the Crater battle, and it is horrible.
Last year we got to tour City Point(Grant's cabin and Appomattox Manor) in Hopewell, which isn't too far from here.
I am hoping one day to get over to Vicksburg, MS and Harper's Ferry WV.....

You should visit Shiloh, too. It's about two hours east of Memphis.
I didnt see any spirits, but felt in the picnic are as if we were watched.
I would love to visit Shiloh, ..I almost drove thru Tenn this trip!
Debra, I have felt that "electricity" on the Gettysburg field by the VA Monument. I have been to Fredericksburg, Yorktown, Gettysburg, Valley Forge, an a few forts. I might have been to more but I am too tired to think of them!
take care
