What kind of fruit tree is this?

I took this picture last month and I don't know what kind of fruit tree it is. The picture was taken in the Pocono Mountains, PA in September. In the Spring the tree gets big white flowers, then in the summer the berries are green and turn red in the early fall.

Gloria - it is a Kousa dogwood - botanical name, Cornus Kousa or another common name that is used is Japanese dogwood. It has become very popular in this country because it is resistant to Dogwood anthracnose, a disease that is decimating the American dogwood.

Actually - it's not called the American dogwood - it's called the flowering dogwood - or cornus florida.

Yes, I did. They are the fruit of the Kousa. I don't think it is edible for humans, but the birds love them.

Thanks Tonia, this is one of the prettiest trees in the our mountain development. There are only two of them so I suppose the owners planted them and they add color in the Spring and Fall. I've never seen so much fruit on a tree.
