Thank you all for your fantastic submissions to our 2006 travel writing contest. We had a flood of entries during the last few days of the submission period and we are now hard at work reading all of your wonderful travel tales. To give us time to properly judge your work, our revised contest calendar is as follows:

Monday, May 1, 2006: 20 Finalists Announced
Monday, May 8, 2006: Winner Announced

Susan, you bet! Couldn't sleep last night. I suggest going into your preferences and making sure you get notified for anything coming from this group. Then, go to the homepage and set your Tag preferences for the 2006 Travel Writing Contest. That should cover the bases and keep you from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome!

Okay, I admit it....I've looked. But I'm going to walk the dog, drop off a thank you gift to the folks who hosted my internship, pull weeds, do laundry, polish silver, pick up children from school, read the dictionary, give myself a pedicure.....ANYTHING but get obsessive about this! (Times like this I wish I hadn't postponed returning to work until after graduation.......)

Gisela, I remember your story and Gary's. It makes sense that you are both waiting eagerly to hear the results. You both published very enjoyable stories!

Great idea Gisela. My wife has been calling me all day - "Have you HEARD yet? Have YOU heard yet? HAVE you heard yet? Have you heard YET?" Hard to get any work done, that's for sure. Now my son just called!

And thank you everyone for your kind words. There truly were a plethora of wonderful and well-written stories. It will be an honor to be a finalst, that is for sure.

Wow, I just read a bunch of the submissions. I entered this thing pretty confident, but everyone else's talent has succeeded in shattering that confidence. Really good stuff you all.

Boston is a great restaurant town. The staff is probably out to dinner right now. Grill 21 & Bar, Olive's, Hammersly's, a hundred places in the north end. I'd be eating if I were in Boston right now, rather than huddled over a computer in a cubicle trying to select 20 names from this list (228, I think it was? - That's how many members in the group, anyway).

Come to think of it, maybe if I go make dinner and then come back...

Fusilli carbonara, I think, light cream sauce with pancetta and spring peas, plus this time I think I'll add some asparagus from the back yard and several of the morel mushrooms I found this morning. A crisp Rueda and I'm all set. See y'all after supper.
