I have researched quite a bit on the diet success of many people. Now, after losing 32 pounds and maintaining that loss, I have done some research into plateaus. Here's some of what I've found.
A plateau means success. Enjoy your plateau because it means your body has reached a resting place. I loss my weight in 3 months. Now, it's been six months and nothing but a pound or two.
I weigh less, so I need to adjust my eating habits. Find something I can cut out without starving myself, and enjoy an occasional dinner out.
Take a break from routine exercise. Stop what you're doing for a few weeks. Change it up. If you walk, run for instance. If you do weight training, try yoga.
The brown fat vs. the white fat revelation.

This is a medical albeit boring look at truth. The brown fat is supposed to melt away if you stay cold for long periods of time. My opinion is that you should turn down the thermostat to save some cash, but don't catch cold and die over this one.
Diet pills? Change them up. They are more placebo effect than truth, and they can be dangerous as we just found out. Remember Hydroxycut recall. Please read this link if you have any of these related products.

If you want to slim down that gut, pull it in a few times a day holding it with gentle pulls that burn a little. Do this whenever you think about it. Try to do it for instance when you drive or watch television. Suck in and then suck in a little more ten times each.
Cutting out sugar drinks such as colas will cut out 20 pounds in a year.
Don't eat out except on special occasions.
There is no diet fast food.
Enjoy your success and comfort your failures with a brisk walk.
