Hi everyone! It’s Julie - for women, I was the Biggest Loser of Season 4! I can’t believe it’s already season 6 – it seems like just yesterday I was there at my season’s finale. I know exactly what the finalists have been going through the past few weeks, with all of the media opps, photo shoots and the hard work they’ve done to change their lifestyles. But the journey doesn’t end there. All of the finalists have to keep their commitments and fulfill their promises to continue to stay at a healthy weight and be inspiration to others who struggle with weight issues.
It’s been a year since making a lifelong commitment to maintaining a healthy weight and becoming the female “Biggest Loser” on season 4. During my time on the show, I learned so much about good nutrition, exercise and keeping up a healthy diet. I started drinking three glasses of lowfat or fat free milk a day which has 9 essential nutrients; including the calcium we need for strong bones and protein to build and maintain lean muscle. Milk has and will continue to always play a key role in my daily routine and healthy weight maintenance.
That’s why I’m working with the people behind the Milk Mustache campaign now, to educate others about milk as part of your exercise recovery routine - a glass of fat free milk has only 80 calories and a unique mix of nutrients including calcium and potassium along with fluids to help you refuel and rehydrate.

The National Milk Mustache “got milk?” campaign continues its partnership with The Biggest Loser to spread the word about the importance of milk as part of your exercise recovery routine - a glass of fat free milk has only 80 calories and a unique mix of nutrients including calcium and potassium along with fluids to help you refuel and rehydrate.

I realize that women need a supply of calcium to build bone mass in order to avoid problems from low bone density in later life; yes, I concede that point. But I guess that the thing that strikes me odd here is the dairy industry telling us that milk is good for us. I would prefer to have the dairy industry sell dairy products, and listen to science about what is good for us. As a fan of Michael Pollan's book, "In Defense of Food", I have a suspicious attitude towards public information flowing from the food industry. It is by definition not objective.
I am not saying that dairy products are bad for humans in moderation. I think that in recent years we have come to realize that the dangers of cholesterol from milkfat are somewhat overstated, and that margarines are not that great for humans either. But the idea of having a hot workout and sucking down a glass of skim milk does seem odd to me. How about a glass of water, then wait for lunch and have a yogurt?
