Entry fee is $2,300 per person, with donors getting more face time with the presidential candidate if they commit to raising $25,000 and dinner with the Obamas if they raise $50,000.
This is Winfrey's first endorsement of a presidential candidate. Obama also is backed by such celebrities as George Clooney and Matt Damon.
I do not watch movies with Clooney or Damon anymore. Nor do I with several other hollyweird elitists.
I never watch Oprah, so I guess I am not missing anything.
It is amazing to me though, that these very rich people can "raise" so much money, and there are still little children abandoned on the streets of our Nation by their own parents, left to starve and fend for themselves until they are "rescued" by CPS, which then turns around as a wolf in sheep’s clothing and "sells" them to the highest bidder through the GUISE of Foster Parents....
really sad.But how about opening up a shelter! Fund raise to open a shelter! Get kids OFF the streets, and in a warm bed at night with warm meals and free hugs and ears to listen to their woes.I know this is nothing new. I am not trying to re-invent the wheel. I realize however, that long are gone the days of shelters JUST FOR kids, and they are now replaced with the typical "homeless" shelter instead. What about our children? The discarded, hurt, abandoned, children of our OWN nation that are still crying out in the dark, looking for hope. Impress me you Hollyweirdos and PUT your FAT money where your MOUTH is. DO something that REALLY matters. Stop going overseas to adopt kids, there are PLENTY right here in America. Yea, I understand children in poverty stricken nations need food, but there are children sleeping in alleys, sewer drainage pipes, and other terrible places RIGHT NOW today that need that glimmer of hope. Just to get things started, here is the NAME of a shelter for children, which will appeal to them."The Lost & Found". There, now go raise money and do something HERE in the Nation you live in, BEFORE you go trotting off to other countries! I want to see Americans taking care of AMERICANS first. The candidates for the most part, have no problems raising money for their political positions. You see millions upon millions of dollars raised in a mere WEEKEND for political candidates, but the local or national Aids drive, breast cancer research drive, or help the children with "X" drive takes MONTHS to be funded. This is where the divide is. Our children are our future, yet they are the most neglected group in the Nation.
Virgil, the "emo" rant on fundraising injustice stems from recent articles and press releases that point at our Nations growing issues with homeless and unwanted children. The simple fact that there is so many millions of dollars being raised for candidates on BOTH sides of the fence, INSTEAD of funds being raised and dogeared for children sends my "emo" rant soaring. I raise funds for children's programs weekly, and have to fight tooth and nail to "prove" the validity of the need. I use supporting evidence, articles, reports, and the records of children themselves, PROOF positive that an issue is at hand. A political candidate tells the public what they want to hear, lies, and basically smoozes to become accepted in a political party race and can acquire millions with a DINNER.
That is the injustice.
It is a rough business, but I am proud of her for the work she does.
