The 50 Songs in 90 Days Challenge is once again happening. I just found out about it today, but I'm really stoked about participating. Since I want to follow the rules, I have to start from day one (that would be the Fourth of July) with songs I have not yet written. That includes both words and music, and I really don't want to cheat. Though it would be very easy to do so, I won't.
After all, the point is well-described by the website:
This is the club. Each summer, 50/90 forges a collaborative community where musicians of all walks and skill levels write a slew of new music material in only three months. That's roughly one tune every other day. Participants are a mix of music professionals, students, homemakers, and folks who work day-jobs but rock nightclubs.
It's organized by the February Album Writing Month folks, which I had not heard of till now. Next year, I'll participate in that as well. But for those who just can't wait that long, I extend an invite to participate in the 50/90 Challenge. There's a forum set up and everything, so I'm anticipating a very fruitful time. No, I won't bend the rules and use lyrics I've already posted here on Gather. I want to do this clean, not easy.
Let's have a very fruitful time writing one song every other day. But no fair getting some entries up early. Gotta do this the right way, which is to be prolific. And you can donate money to this very worthy endeavor as well. It ends October 1st (and not a day after) so I hope you can get involved in making this a very outrageously fruitful ninety days.
Oh, and you don't have to be a professional songwriter to participate. If you just do this for a hobby, then you're still more than welcome to join. The more folks who get involved, the better.
