Love

Love
It grows from a mysterious place
Somewhere in our hearts
Somewhere beneath our skin
It comes up when we least expect it
And stays forever
We do not invite it in
At least not most of the time
It just arrives
And forces itself upon our souls
Imprints itself upon our very being
We cannot choose who we love
Not really
It just happens
And we hope
That they are the one
We can endure life with
Love
It shows up when we least expect it
It stays longer than we thought it would
And it invites itself into our dreams
Endlessly torturing us until we surrender
And let it take hold of us
And we let it change
From noun to verb
We enjoy it
For what it is
Love
