The candle flickers softly between us
Lighting your cheeks with a soft glow
That highlights the curve of your face
Your almond shaped eyes sparkle
As you gaze at me
Smiling radiantly from behind tender lips
There is no one around
The children are gone for the night
The house is quiet
It is you and I alone
Music plays softly in the background
Its gentle rhythm sways through the air in the room
And our conversation smoothly flows
From children to flower pots
From remodeling to how lovely you are
In restful serenity
We two sit and talk
In the candles gentle glow
Hushed laughter
From deeply muttered voices
Like a blanket wraps warmly around our hearts
As the sun sets
The flame burns
I release a sigh of pleasure
As I realize
That this is more romantic
Than a thousand lingeried honeymoons
And I smile as I look at your face
In the candles flickering light
