Souls Intertwined
©2006, Basil Sands
Sunlight flashed across my eyes
Breaking the darkness of morning slumber
And in a brief moment of perception
I saw your face
Sitting, serious, staring down at a table
Dark hair hung loosely down the sides of your head
Soft and shimmering in the glow of light from a window
You were waiting
Waiting for someone
Someone to come to you
Someone to call to you
I stood still
To see what would happen
Staring at you
Your perfect form, perfect face
Like a flower before my eyes
Like a gem of most precious beauty
I could not take my eyes off of your loveliness
Like a statue
I was unable to leave the spot on which my feet were planted
Unable to turn my face from the rapturous vision before me
As if an enchantment had grasped my spirit and held me
In a wondrous prison of perfect beauty
Glancing up you saw me
Pushed silken hair back behind your soft shoulder
With clear brown eyes sparkling as if a thousand stars
Were being created in your gaze
You looked into the depths of my being
We smiled at one another
Our souls became intertwined
In love that reached beyond our bodies
Waves of euphoric pleasure rolled over us
Our spirits riding love's moonlit tide
I awoke
And watched you softly breathing
In the darkness I listened to you softly breathing
Your head on the pillow next to mine
And adored you
