Daddy, Tell Us a Story

Daddy, Daddy
Tell us a story
Tell us a story
To awaken our dreams
Tell us a story
Of kings on their thrones
In castles of old
Of their queens seated next to them
With crowns of gold
Tell us a story
Of dragons and knights
Locked in dread combat
Who will win the fight?
Tell of a lady
Who dwells in a lake
Hair shining as starlight
Her beauty so great
That both dragon and knight
Will bow to their knee
When they gaze toward the water
Her wondrous, lovely form for to see
Her song melts the heart of fiercest of beasts
Her truly kind deeds are declared at great feasts
Tell us of witches and goblins defeated
By good elves and giants
Whose stories repeated
Will fill up our minds and hearts and our pens
Our thoughts will be brimming all childhood till when
In the long flow of time
We'll continue your rhyme
And we'll pour out these stories on our kids again
Daddy, Daddy,
Tell us a story
