I am sure most of you have heard either me or my sister Robin wax poetic for rhubarb. We used to head to Uncle Bill’s patch (the best I have ever seen or experienced), with salt shakers and paring knives in tow.
Peeling back the sun warmed skin, a sprinkle of salt, and it was like Heaven on earth. When the cousins all get together we still talk
about Uncle Bill’s rhubarb.
As the patch produced massive quantities of tender rhubarb, we would actually have some leftover for mom to make something special: crisp, pie, sauce, etc. I will be posting a few of Mom’s famous rhubarb recipes, and adding a few of my own.
From dinner to dessert to beverages, rhubarb deserves homage.

Thanks, Lar. For some reason, the closer the patch is to a farm, that better it is!
Oh no, Lynn! Isn't it funny how you weigh the pros and cons to where you live sometimes?
Awesome, Sarina! Thanks! Hope you like them.
okay its sour. does it taste like a veggie or fruit? looking at it reminds me of celery but if youre gonna put it in a pie....
I have a recipe coming up for Rhubarb pie, Dan, from Mom. No strawberries in it though.
Are you sure he wasn't talking about burdock, Rob? It looks very similar to rhubarb.
Take a small knife and peel it. The peel should come off in nice strands. Sprinkle with some salt and take a big bite!
It's like I've said, you either love it or hate it.
