We're excited to hear your feedback regarding Thursday's upgrade.
New features of the upgrade are:
- You’ll have the option to share your content on Facebook and Twitter more easily than ever before, right from the publishing tool.
- You’ll have the option to share your comments on Facebook and Twitter with a simple click of a box.
If you’re interested in expanding the viewership of your content on Gather to your friends in other networks, than this upgrade will be just the thing for you. These features are completely optional.
Please take a look at two posts for details about the upgrade; the overview post with instructions and Tom’s post about expanding your voice. If you have any questions about the new features please stop by today’s Daily Help Forum at the Help Desk or send a question to the Support team by using the Contact Member Support Form.

Loved the talk earlier with the new members that was fun..
Facebook is lame. Facebook was cool when it was actually a network for college students and you could meet people who were on college campuses. Now since every idiot with an email address can get on there, it has degraded into cow tossing and poking. High brow entertainment let me tell you.
Twitter is for the short attention span crowd. I'm forced to use it for a class at school and I want to pull my eyes out every time I'm forced to use it.
Why not improve things on site instead of keep creating new ways to spread our stuff around the internet. Comment Editor amirite?
I'm far too sleepy to go over the laundry list of wishes and wants that have been repeated nine billion times, on every update since Hawthorne. Maybe someone else will feel like beating the dead horse.
I think the the ability to hide or share ONSITE our profile and our work would be more beneficial. We are able to hide our recent activities on our profile pages, but there is no option to hide our comments. I know comment stalking is a fabulous way to get to other people's work, but it would be nice if it were an option I could share only with my friends. I do have a private side of my life I would like to keep private.
More privacy settings and options would be something I would like to have. I'm sure lots of folks will get plenty of use from the new upgrade, but I won't be using it.
Where are the links to these two posts that you mentioned, MaryAnne?
I'd rather see the site re-implement a homepage. That would have far greater value to the average Gather member. In fact, that is one of the few upgrades that a large percentage of Gather members would enthusiastically support; that was reflected in the comments members made on a post that I did on the subject a while back. I can't recall a single comment that did not support the return of the homepage.
Thanks also for the feedback on a homepage, Heather. That continues to be an area of the site that the design team is giving a lot of thought to. Thanks also for referencing your Home Sweet Homepage post. I'll forward it to the design team to make sure they've seen it and the comments on it.
