Gather Upgrade Notice

Hello Gather!

We will be conducting a minor site upgrade tonight, Tuesday August 25, 2009 from 10:30pm – 2:00am ET. The site will be unavailable during this time frame. Please be sure to complete any sharing/publishing prior to this time. Check back after 2:00am ET on Wednesday to log in and start your day on Gather.

The changes being introduced should make gathering easier:

  • The “more” comment links will go to the actual comment, rather than the top of the content where the comment appears.
  • Group owners will appreciate the addition of a Member Settings link on the Manage Group Content page.
  • The remaining updates are internally focused for Gather staff so we can more efficiently work behind the scenes keeping the site running smoothly.

A post outlining the upgrade will be available later today at the Help Desk. Please join the Support team at the Help Desk tomorrow if you have any questions about the changes. We would love to hear your feedback at improve.gather.com.

As always, we appreciate your patience during the upgrade and we look forward to your feedback!

If I understand this change correctly ~ sounds good. It is rather a pain to scroll down to a recent comment, especially with posts that have a ton of comments. I already wondered why there wasn't an option to present the comments with the most recent post first. It will make it easier and quicker to follow a discussion. Thanks.

well, as long as the updates don't break the site, this will be excellent. I have seen other sites that do "updates" that they had to roll back, because it shut down their site.
