This post is a reminder of changes coming to the Earnings Program starting January 1, 2009.
In August 2
008 Gather expanded the options available when redeeming points by offering Paypal cash payments for all US members. With this exciting option members can use their points to purchase $25, $50 or $100 transfers into their Paypal account as easily as buying a gift card or donating to one of the charities listed at https://earnings.gather.com/. Because this option is now available for all US members we phased out the old invitation-based cash compensation program and the option to have your payment via a check.
Members who currently receive their payments via checks will be able to continue doing so for redemptions placed through December 30, 2008. We will make some back end changes on December 31. Starting January 1, 2009 all cash payments will be via Paypal and all accounts currently set to show cash earnings will be switched to show point earnings.
To redeem your points for any gift card, Paypal transfer or charity donation, log into your account and visit the secure page of https://earning.gather.com/. There are no tax forms to fill out now. You will automatically be notified to complete and submit a W-9 form when your redemptions near $600 in one calendar year. Having store gift cards, Paypal transaction options and charity options all using points allows us to remain efficient fulfilling your orders. You now have the flexibility to order gift cards to some fabulous stores, donate to a cause you support or transfer cash into your Paypal account to use anywhere on anything.

Based upon the following:

Are you only notified if your redemption would meet or exceed $600.00USD, or if you begin approaching that threshold?
If the latter, what dollar amount triggers the notification and are you blocked from redeeming points beyond that dollar amount, even if your total redemption for the year would be still less than $600.00?

and my compensation rate, which I have seen fall drastically this year stays at the same even after three years of steady output???

If a member has already redeemed $570 in earnings and they order $20 in gift cards, their order will go through and they will not be notified because they have not reached $600.

i was not given the cash option when I signed up paypal or gift cards work fine for me.
Of course we don't count....!
Otherwise Gather would have addressed the elephant in the room!
I had read a few articles saying ALL points were ending in January, so it's nice to have this cleared up. I love all the options! :)
