Take the word Post. I post a comment...I publish an article. Gather has decided to use the word Post for article now...which I do not like BTW. WHY? Because as shown in this article/post the author has used the word post not in reference to publishing your own article but in reference to posting a comment here. Also.. I think referring to articles as posts lowers the value of what the member is creating.
Why did you make it so hard to get to the publish page...way under EXPLORE a tiny little word "share"?
I hope you get the servers fixed as it took me 20 minutes to get access to Gather today and very slow load times for pages.
So far, that's it for now...still exploring.
Honestly, I should not HAVE to use Word or whatever to be able to share my posts on Gather.
Nor should it take 3 or more tries to get a comment through or a page to load.
Thank you for your feedback. Please let me direct you to the best place to leave it:
Gather's New Look and Features – Post Your Feedback and Suggestions Here
We just want to keep how-to questions separate from general feedback and comments, so that one doesn't drown out the other. Thank you!
I tried to search groups today so I could join some foodie groups. I went to the Groups page and put "foodies" in the search box to the right of it, but only got articles about food. What am I doing wrong??
As per my last comment, this is also causing some slowness on the site. We're working on it!
Marilyn M had trouble locating where you go to ( publish ) share. To publish/share content you go to the Explore tab and then to the Share link.
To browse recent posts in general, click or hover your mouse over "Explore" at the top of any Gather page, and then click "posts." Then click the "recent" link at the top of the list of articles.
To see your own recent posts, click "My Gather," and then the "my posts" link beneath the banner ad.
We think that the Gather Points and views not updating is related to the site instability. I will update on all of these related issues later, when I have more information.
I have to say I am not a fan of how our articles now look but I guess I'll get use to it eventually. I also I really miss the main home page. I hope that Gather will reconsider elimination of that.
Leah, I suggest changing your bookmarked page from the homepage to the Explore page. That will give you a snapshot of what's happening across the site without logging in.
You can still find "Featured" content if you click the "Explore" button, and scroll to the bottom. These are now known as "Gather Picks." Scroll through them by using the arrows on the each side, or watch it scroll through automatically.
You can also still find Featured content in each of the Gather Essentials groups. You will find links to each of these at the very bottom of every page on Gather.
Also, why are captions hyperlinked on all photos now?
Your "draft" posts should be located in the same spot that your draft articles always were. Click "Explore" and then "share," and then "Share a Post." Any drafts you have saved should be located near the top of the page, right above where you enter your title.
It does take two steps to use the advanced search functions, but not to run a simple search for people or groups. Search is now universal, meaning that it draws results for posts, photos, videos, people, and groups all at once. Use the search bar at the top of any Gather page. The results page will default to a "posts" view, but you can click the links for people or groups to immediately view those results instead.
Yes, you can still rate. Look for a gray bar above the commenting section of any post/photo/video. There are several features on this bar... the first one, on the left, is to "rate." Hover your mouse over the "rate" link, and then click the appropriate star.
Publish = Share
To Publish any content click on the "share" link under Explore.
Is this your photo?
The site just had a "hiccup" that may have caused you to get logged out. I know I had to sign back in. Sit tight while we work through the turbulence!
We continue to experience some site instability resulting in some members being logged out. This is begin actively addressed and we hope to smooth out the glitches over the course of today.
Are you still getting that error? I just tried it myself, and had no trouble.
FYI Twice this morning when signing in I was signed in to a differant persons page. It was different people both times. I was using the AOL browser.
I just thought you'd like to know.
That sounds like how it's supposed to work, unless you know that they attempted to embed. All photos attached to a post will now be found in the slide viewer at the bottom of the post's body of text.
That is not a new problem with the upgrade. That has been happening to AOL Gatherers for quite some time. I’m sorry that you were personally affected. I will share with you what we know about this problem ("identity crisis," as some have joked). Occasionally, you may log in and find yourself viewing some other member's "My Gather" page – or vice versa. Rest assured that if this happens, you have not actually logged in as the wrong member, nor can you perform any activities (post comments, send messages) under the guise of that member. Our developers have attributed this effect to a caching problem with AOL. This effect seems to be exclusive to our AOL users. We have not yet found a way to prevent this from occurring.
Nevertheless, we are attempting to collect more information about this from affected members when it occurs. Hopefully with enough information we will be able to notice some pattern for what is triggering this effect with our AOL members. If this happens to you again, or if you have any further questions, please let us know.
Are you saying that you started receiving your emails again yesterday, but as of today you are no longer receiving them?
Just wondering if you need to do some stress and load testing before this stickiness can be fixed, or if it's just a matter of stabilizing that will fix itself after awhile. If it's the former, would you please tell me when they plan to do this? If the latter, how long do you think it might take to stabilize? Thanks!
I'm sorry for the problems you've had today. As I've stated above, we've been having some website instability since going live with our upgrade early this morning. This will cause general slowness, and sign-in sessions to end suddenly. We're working hard to get things running smoothly. I'm glad you enjoy Gather!
It does appear that the links to view "owned" groups of other members was unintentionally left out of the redesign. We may bring the links back in the future - for now, you can use the advanced options in a group search to look up groups by owner. To reach these advanced options, run any search using the search bar at the top of the page, and then select groups. After clicking "Advanced Search," you can clear out the original search word(s) and just search by "group owner."
Here is a link to a blank group search, if you would like to bookmark it:

I just filed an enhancement request, so hopefully these links will come back soon.
I'm sorry about your notifications. I just can't imagine any possible reason why the upgrade would affect the delivery of your notifications.
What time did they start working last night? It must have been after 7:40 pm last night, when you sent me a message.
The email service you switched to last night is known for delaying Gather notifications. Keep an eye out this afternoon to see if any come trickling in. Also, check your spam folder regularly to make sure nothing winds up in there.
and apparently some are also having issues with the craptastic 4/5 tries to send an email validation word
Overall site slowness is the major problem currently. Addressing this is our highest priority and once remedied, the glitches should subside.
Thank you for your continued patience as we work through some behind the scenes challenges!

This article is for how-to questions.
I'm here and I was just checking out your question.
There does not appear to be a way to click to the next photo of a member without going to the member's page. We'll ask if this was intentional or not, because I don't recall reviewing this specific change internally as we were preparing for the upgrade.
Also the only way I can get back to my Gather page is by hitting the back button. When I click my Gather it goes into terminal loading.
I believe that it was an oversight. There were certainly no plans to eliminate the links. I have one of our designers investigating what happened now.
All of this is related to the general instability that the site is experiencing right now. We're working on it!
Try logging out, and then logging back in and trying again.
I just found out that the "prev" and "next" links on image pages will be restored today with a patch. Sit tight!
You're no bother Dan! Your Mail is located in a new spot. Click on My Gather along the top of the page and your My Gather page will be presented. On the left side of the page you'll see your dashboard. Under your icon you'll have 3 buttons, Invite, Share and Mail. Click on Mail and you will be brought to your mailbox where you can read and send messages.
There are some problems with Gather mail that we hope to fix later today. When you reply to a message the original message is not carried through. The same happens when you forward a message. Problems with mail should be cleared up later this afternoon.
No.
For anyone who sees this in time, we will be deploying a patch at 4:15 (in 10 minutes). It will restore the "prev" and "next" links on photos and address various issues with the private messaging system. Be prepared to be logged out against your will at some point between 4:15 and 4:30.
I'm just kidding, of course! You can still find the green envelope in the left column of your "My Gather" page, if you have any unread private messages.
I just wish I could make the recent posts and photos the default setting when I click there.
Before we look at that more closely, we should be sure that the continued problem with your feed settings does not have to do with today's site instability. If you would, please give it till Friday, and then let me know if your settings still aren't sticking.
The site is still experiencing some instability following the upgrade. We're working on leveling things out. Your patience is appreciated.
so now mail is basically as useful as pings
Right Chuck, but the icon at the top right hand corner of the screen that was VERY useful in letting is know if someone has left us a mail, connection request etc is now lost.
