Hi Maryanne, being new to Gather I could use some advice on Tags. I tried the help section but having problems, still. On the left side where u can see info, ur groups, how the heck can I add the Tag part onto the left column.

So far, I don't like the new Gather very much. I hope it gets better.

I think you should send out a mass mail to everyone on gather that when you press on a person's name and get to their site, you see all of that unnecessary junk and no where to read what they write, and I think you should explain it by mass mail, that
you have to push articles to read them. I spent an hour last night trying to find one
of my articles. I have had several emails myself today from people who are just too disgusted with this upgrade , and I personally do not like having every comment I made
right at the top of the page, I see no reason why you did this, just busy work it seems to me. Before when you clicked on someones name, it took you right to their articles, I haven't had one , well just one, comment today , I think no one knows how to work it.

So does that mean that Gather has solved the issue of why i have not been able to upload my videos anymore to my Gather site?
It became so frustrating and time consuming that I quite awhile ago and therefore just post a link to my youtube channels, but it is a loss none the less!

I am not too keen on this change either. I really liked my page with my section of articles, photos and comments.

I also liked the "My Gather" page with recent photos, articles and comments of my friends. I'm afriad I"ll miss certain people now if they aren't my closest connections.

I preferred the older version much better myself as well. I thought it was cleaner, easier with less steps, simple.
I feel much the same as Bobbi.

Two things I've been wondering:

1) Does Gather have anyone with a degree in Human Factors available to help with how humans WANT to navigate a site?

2) Have you ever considered getting a group of people together who can be your beta testers for changes like this before they hit the entire site?

When I try and spotlight my articles, I cannot get any of my articles to open. When I click on my "articles" ... nothing happens. It stays on my "comments".

I am bothered by, overwhelmed by all of the information about everyone else on my homepage. Being prone to sensory overload, this just isn't good for me.

I've been trying to figure out a way to at least lesson the content but so far I don't see that I have any options..the group feed setting worked but the friend's feed did not..

This is just all too much....I'm happy with the page views counter :)

I'm still waiting for my free rectal pad coupons.

I like having more control over what people see. The spotlight's great. But I don't like the "default" mix of comments, pings, changes to profile, etc in the feed. Could you give us control over what comes up as default maybe - so a writer could have it default to articles, a photographer default to images, a prolific networker to comments, etc... I think that might make a lot of people happier.

Also, I'm not sure about putting all the pings on the profile - sort of makes it look like chatting is the most important thing on gather. A "View pings" button might be less intrusive, clean up the appearance, and make the page load faster.

Why in the world did you stop allowing comments on your most recent article about the gather changes Pam? I don't get it. I wanted to respond there.

I too do not care for the new gather look at all. I use my namespace digitaldogs.gather.com as a place to send people who want to read my blog. Now when they go their all they see is a bunch of non-related puff about others, they do not see any of my articles.

Honestly, gather, we all realize that you guys are hoping to make a big sale of gather to the highest bidder, but competing with facebook and myspace, in an arena in which they have already won, will not bring you the sale you desire.

Please bring back our REAL namespace with the actual ARTICLES we have written! Or at least give each member a way to allow others to see their pages they way WE want them to. This new look is simply awful!

And... please reduce the type and icon sizes on our pages so more info can be read on one screen AND get rid of those annoying pings! YUCK!

Hey, I'd go along with any changes Gather wants if I could JUST PUBLISH AN ARTICLE now...

All I get is a BLANK PAGE when I hit "Publish" today...

I like it. I think people are making way to much of this. It is driving me nuts. If you don't like it then leave. As long as I can get my money when I cash out all is good.

The only thing I would say I do not like is this orange color. I would change that

I have always given gather.com an "A+" for their user friendly manner of developing their web site. However, I see that is falling by the wayside. Changes are sometimes necessary but a few at a time are the best way to proceed. I feel like I knew my way around but then someone added another million trees to the forest and now I am totally lost; and I am not sure I even want to bother to see if I can find my way.

I am lost, I hate the changes.
I do not care about pings, I do not care to know when someone pings someone else, or when someone comments on an article, espically if I did not read the article.

Site is not easy to navigate.

Can't find articles I wrote, where are my photo's?

Hawthorne is wonderful.
The more I use it the more I like it.
I think others will say the same thing once they actually try and figure it out.
I will admit it is a bit confusing at first, but well worth it once you get the hang of it.

I am unable to have frinds "feed" me any thing at all. BTW if I wanted to be fed I would eat at a favorite restaraunt. That being said. Why can I not see anyarticles or images even my own prior to 4/10/ Where are my images prior to that date. I would prefer to delete them myself not have them spinning around in gatherland somewhere. I understand the term glitches and why they happen but really this seems to be a major malfuction not a simply glitch.
