There is no means of doing this today, but from what I understand this capability will be coming when Gather updates the messaging system.
It used to be so easy to publish.
Currently your profile feed data only goes back to April 7 of this year (or so). As you publish more content from this point forward your feed will grow and more content will be available for spotlighting. Gather has recommended that all members republish older content as a new article, image or video if you would like to spotlight it.
If you have uploaded an image to your article, the group selection list will appear in a 'collapsed' form. You must expand this list by clicking the "options" link to the right of "Who Can View this Article".
Let me know if this doesn't fix your problem.
==================
Change is difficult, if was just technical changes, I would be fine, but the changes are cultural. The focus of Gather has changed from content to people. I have not written an article complaining, in fact I have written nothing since the change because it is too frustrating. I have cut my Gather time down significantly. I hate being bombared with tons of useless information and pings. While the tab information is helpful, all this tab work is time consuming, iritating and distracting. I have tried for days to warm up to the new format, but in the end I believe, I will simply abandon Gather becasue it no longer focuses on content and it is not worth the time to filter or tab thru all the nonsense to read the content that interests me.

Thanks for your feedback and I'm sorry to hear you are frustrated with the changes. We are trying to strike the right balance between content/ideas and people. Have you tried the "Feed Me" and "Group Feed" tabs where you search for content by topic and content types? Those views should result in more of a content view rather then a social perspective.
There are no images involved. Furthermore I can see the Group Selection list plain as daylight.
My articles just won't post. Earlier after many hassles, I posted one. It just took too much time. Isn't Gather about posting? Why should the main feature i.e. publishing, be so frustrating?
I've given up on posting my second article fr today.
I'm sorry to hear about the article publishing trouble! Will you send an email to support@gather.com that details the problems you've been having publishing articles? Walk me through how it's been working for you, step by step. If you email tonight, I'll get back to you tomorrow. Thanks for your patience!
Thanks for letting us know the Spotlight did not take for your article. I'm going to try to spotlight the article you published at 6:00 pm today to see if it takes. I'll let you know what happens.
The upgrade on Friday resolved the outstanding email notification problems that some members were experiencing. Are you having trouble receiving email notifications when your friends are active? If you are, can you tell me a bit more what you are experiencing? If you prefer, feel free to email support@gather.com with the details. I'll look for a message from you there.
I dislike the pings/comments/and all the stuff my friends are doing it takes up space since I can only get 500 things which include all this.
there is also a glitch in some articles /images not showing up
I think the views are not recording properly either.
Another important thing that I have noticed now after a couple of days MY EYES hurt if I spend more time on the feed page so I have resorted to finding my friends through emails and check out the home page and work from there. If somehow the look changes so I can see actually use it better the feeds would be cool.
I also discovered that I can cash out only if I log out then log in and immediately go to the place where you cash out but if you look at articles/images etc first then it goes away again each and every time.
I really like it but the new upgrade needs some major tweaking and it can only get better.
I'm sorry that I wasn't fully understanding your problem yesterday. Typically when members state that their groups 'disappear', the solution is often the one I provided to you.
Now that I know more about what is happening to you, I may be able to offer some level of assistance.
First of all, this has happened to me several times. In each case it was due to either: i) 'something' happening to my connection or account, causing me to be signed out of Gather while editing, or ii) I deleted an image in my article; or, iii) I accessed other tabs or windows that were open to Gather at the same time (to grab a URL or something).
I suspect in your case that reason (i) is the culprit. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done on your end to prevent it, except to regularly click the 'save as draft' button while editing.
You can try the following to see if it provides you with a more stable publishing experience:
1) Update your browser to the latest version.
2) Don't access any other browser tabs or windows open to Gather while editing.
3) Click the 'Save as Draft' button periodically while editing.
....and most importantly:
4) Limit the amount of time you spend in the editor. Create your article elsewhere (Word, etc.), and paste into the article editor on Gather. I have found that the more time I spend tinkering with my article in the editor, the more problems I have like the one you are experiencing.
Please let me know how this advice works for you...
Thanks for your feedback and suggestion regarding the upgrade. I will be passing them onto our User Interface design team.
