I realized two annoying things today:
- Articles For Me only includes articles from your connections, not your subscriptions (maybe?) and it appears that the mechanics of joining a group are more like subscriptions than connections. Therefore, Articles For Me does not include articles from groups you're a member of.
- Subscription settings don't seem to be taking. I wanted to start using email to keep track of my articles, but when I click the checkboxes to get updates on all of your articles, it's saving just fine, except in the new screen none of the boxes are checked.
I'll tell you what I really want: I want one RSS feed for everyone's content besides comments. So, if I click on 'my people' the list itself will have the RSS button without having to click through to their namespace. I want my groups to have the same option. I want a list of 'active articles' - i.e. articles I've commented on that there's been subsequent comments, so I can stay involved before an article 'dies' using an RSS feed or a single page, instead of clicking 'my comments' and each individual article. I want my notifications to be smart enough to filter out articles that have been cross-posted, so I only have to read them once. I want groups to be organized into categories, or if not that detailed, I want to be able to designate groups I belong to mainly to post to, and groups that I want a more active feed on content. I want notifications within Gather itself that let me know when my articles have been commented on, so I don't rudely miss a comment on my own content should something happen with my email.
Lastly, I want some sort of 'works best with Firefox' message. I can't imagine the pain people who use Internet Explorer are going through - I couldn't do this without tabs and the 'middle-click-open-in-new-tab-but-stay-on-my-current-screen' option.
It seems half-done. That's all for now.

Hmmm. Articles for Me (for me) gives me all of the articles written by both my connections and subscriptions. Same for Comments on My Gather page, which is where I do most of my navigating from.
WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

ANOTHER REALLY GREAT IDEA!
Some of the other stuff is Greek to me though, but if you like it then I'm sure I'd like it too!
