While going through my list of groups today exploring for articles and images as I often do, I noticed something about two groups at Gather. They are sponsored, or should I say owned by Gather staff I think, and have not had any activity for some time. (at least when I open them)
The two groups are "Gather Mug Shots" and the "Editors Desktop" that I remember once as being popular. Mug Shots has had no activity since October, and the Editors Desktop since last July. I don't remember there being talk, or announcements of them ending.
Are these groups going to stay inactive, and should we delete them from our lists, or are there plans to re-start them this year. If not, we might as well remove them to help keep down the number of pages.
Thanks for your consideration.
PS- do any members out there want them back in action?

Even now, some good articles are not seen because the author is not connected widely enough to have the article shared as it deserves.
I think the Gather Mug Shots program was a valuable addition to the community, and I would like to see it start up again. I have made inquiries about the status of this program, but I have not received any definitive responses. I think it is a resource issue for them presently (time & manpower).
As for the "Editor's Desktop", I think that this group has also suffered from similar growing pains, in that there simply aren't enough resources available to sustain it. I would also like to see this group return in some form, as the information exchanged was valuable (although, most of the older content is still applicable).
There was another group, 'The Best of Gather', or something like that, that also was used to recommend content for the "Editor's Picks", on the old Gather Home Page. This group also isn't being used (that I know of).
What about it Gather....??????
Thanks for posting this -- its nice to feel the love of the community! With regard to the Mug Shots program, look for a renewed effort in the Spring. We love that program, and will make it more fun and more visible in the weeks to come. As for the Editor's Desktop, we are first going to update all of the articles in the group to reflect our most recent site changes, and then begin to publish weekly again in mid-February. Let the Gather Editorial Team (Jennifer Hodge, Erik Edson and I) know what you would like to see from the Editors' perspective. Thanks again for thinking of us.

Thanks for the good news, and answering the article. I'm sure others will enjoy those Groups starting up again too. I'll work on some ideas for when you get going again.
Hey folks, chime in if there is something you would like to see as well.
Thanks again.
