Ask people to post to your groop?

I just started my first and only group. I have seen people in their comments on an article tell the writer that the article could be posted to  their group. Is this consider right or wrong. I don't want to do if it is not considered the right thing to do.

It's your group, so you get to decide what you want posted. If someone violates your posting standards, you can reject the article. So... for example... if you do not want "adult" material in your group, you should include that statement in your group description, and then it's up to you whether or not to reject specific articles as they are posted.

I don't see why it wouldn't be OK as they have the final decision as to whether or not they want to do it.

I agree with you, Lynn. I know that I have invited several people to post recipes to some of my groups, and for people with pit bulls to join my group for pittys.

I haven't done it myself, because it's just not my style. But I don't mind at all if other people do it. Sometimes you learn about a new group that you might not have seen before.

I had somebody post that kind of comment on one of my articles and I appreciated it. They let me know about a group I wasn't previously aware of, and my article got more publicity. I've also done this to another person's article because it was the sort of thing that was really appropriate for my group. I think it's fine.

I agree with Peacefully. When I see suggestions like that, it sometimes leads me to a great group that I was not aware of.

William, i have asked people to post in my groups also. I love for them to do it, as long as they follow the particular group's guidelines. Like several people post to the Kitchen Tricks, Hints & Tips group, but it has to be a tip or hint.....not just a recipe. At Tropical Gardens it has to be about tropical plants or fruit, etc.

I am always flattered when people ask me to post to their groups.

No idea on the etiquette of it but I've seen it done and have been asked myself to post certain articles to groups and I am honored to be asked so I do.

Perhaps just avoid the "serious" writers who are apparently bitter about new people and you'll be all right. ;-)

William, I think it is a great practice to ask someone to post. I have been asked and I love the exposure my article gets. Also, I have done it quite a few times when I have seen articles that are perfect for Heart Tugs. Just my opinion:-)

It just depends how you feel about it William. Do you like getting this kind of message? Would you prefer it as a comment or as a private message?

I have received a number of private message requests asking me to publish one of my articles to another group. I felt flattered. As a result, I send a similar request whenever I read an article that would have been appropriate for one of my groups.

I've asked a lot of people to repost an article to "ghosts and ghoulies" because there are so many neat spooky unexplained stories around...I figure if they take it as an insult they don't have to post but it never hurts to ask!

BTW...anyone who likes a good "unexplained" story is invited to join "ghosts and ghoulies and long legged beasties and things that go bump in the night"

Well, sometimes one doesn't know if it's appropriate to post to a group, so it's nice to have an invitation.

I've mentioned groups quite a bit in comments before, even if they are not mine. It's not that easy in here to know what groups are around, so I look at it as helping in a way. For example, someone will post a picture of a cat, and I will notice that they didn't post to any cat groups, so I will mention what is available. Especially if they are fairly new here.

From what I've read above, it seems like lots of people would like to have such a comment invitation.
I, too, occasionally find a post that would fit well into one of my groups. Perhaps I'll start making similar suggestions myself. Now, if could only work on the group banner and icon on my one group without...
