University of Washington biology lecturer Greg Crowther believes in the power of song to teach about metabolism, neuroscience and energy production in muscle cells. Crowther has written many songs about science that you can find on the Internet. In fact there are thousands of science songs out there on the 'Net. Some are meant to instruct, others to entertain. Nearly all have a high cornball factor.

My five year old heard a real B52's song and pointed out the similarity to the Bill Nye song we had recently heard on an old videotape. Hah! She remembered it was about the bloodstream.
My boys know song lyrics better than their address and really do learn that way!!!!
Now here's the source of my real excitement. I am a RN with a constant interest in things scientific and a singer with a decade of church choir experience where expression and understanding are essiential. Knowing melody is a given. Range of musical exposure is essiential. I could die a happy woman if I could join the science recording industry and join with other science music lovers to teach through song. Any agents ready to sponsor my winning combination--I'm the woMAN (hear it? the Joe Jackson song I'M THE MAN
