Introducing two new gather members

Greetings all
I wanted to ease the  entrance into this august (is it August already?) group for two friends of mine;
Edward Leavitt - eleavitt.gather.com
 & Marlene Parrish  - marleneparrish.gather.com

Both are good writers, excellent cooks, great travel companions and fun to be around. One I've known for over 30 years, the other for six months. Both will be excellent additions to our community.

They are slightly reluctant to jump in, so I thought a few words of welcome might get them to post a comment here. Your kind indulgence is appreciated.

Well - that's a lot of fanfare for no response. False alarm, folks. Thank you for the kind wishes - but they don't seem to have anything to say -- now. (could it have been that "fresh meat" remark?(smile))

They are probably busy. I know that one is performing at Maverick Concerts this weekend, and the other has set aside the syndicated food columns to welcome Janet Mendel to the US for her book tour promoting her seventh Spanish cookbook "Cooking From the Heart of Spain". (I've asked gather to host Janet on their "Ask the Author" series, so if anyone else is interested in Spanish cooking please ask them too.)
