Announcing The 2006 Travel Writing Contest Finalists!

Congratulations to everyone who entered our 2006 Travel Writing Contest. We had a difficult time choosing the finalists, a testament to the caliber of the submissions we reviewed.

Just to refresh your collective memory, the twenty stories listed below have been sent to Concierge.com's editor in chief, Peter Frank, who will select the Grand Prize Winner.

The winning author will embark on a 7-night sailing journey from Barcelona to Lisbon, courtesy of Priceline.com Cruises, aboard Windstar's Wind Spirit ship ($7500 approx. retail value)

I'm about a fifth of the way through all the finalists' articles. I don't know how Peter Frank will choose. The submissions are seriously excellent.

WOW! This is huge! Imagine having the editor of Concierge.com reading our writing. That's what made me enter. It's an honor to be listed with you guys. (and Kurt, I would have voted for you to be in this group.) The funniest thing about me being included is that except for my newspaper columns (where the editors have to take pretty much everything I send them) all my travel writing gets rejected! NOW, excerpts from some of my articles will be aired on Northeast Public Radio, and one is a finalist here. (Take that, editors!) Thank you all - and Good Luck! - you all deserve to win!

i heartily concur with kudos to all the finalists...when i found out that i wasn't in the top 20 i was disappointed but then when i saw that there were more than 21 entries at least i wasn't humiliated! congratulations everyone and keep on travelin'.
