Dear Friends (and Sandy),

 

I need some help. Since joining Gather I have used as my icon a photo that I thought was really silly. Unfortunately people think it's me when in fact it is a photo of our illustrious president George in drag. I am completely enamored with the political debating platform that Gather offers so I thought it was also appropriate.

I think I wanna change.

The question is should I?

I'm not sure how I would feel if Martin changed (I would miss his pussy) or if Bert wasn't there smiling or if Candida and Hanna stopped being so damn attractive or even if Mr. Sucks didn't have that energetic persona.

 

Are we now stuck with the icons we choose when we started?

 

What should I do?

Bruce, I'm new to Gather, but I have noticed some Gatherers seem to change their icon frequently. I say change it.

I kept my first photo for a long time and then as I started commenting more, I found people were commenting on my picture. Eventually, the picture comments stopped. I also noticed that some folks changed their photo often, so I decided to change mine, and have since done so several times.

A single photo is like looking at one frame from a motion picture. It tells you nothing of the plot or the setting. As I became more comfortable here, I decided that I would like to offer a broader view of who I am.

So go ahead and change your picture. Give us a broader look at who you are or who you'd like to be.

Feel free to change your icon. If, at a later date, you wish you hadn't put the old one back up. This is the land of the free and the home of the icon of the brave.

Okay, you got me. I too looked at the picture and thought, "A strange looking hairdo, and a not very pretty woman with a man's name, but I like her anyway, for what she says and how she thinks."
And now, you have me really confused, Bruce. Are you male or female? I have referred to you as "she" in many posts. Do I owe you an apology?

Oh, and go ahead and change your picture to whatever you want. I changed mine awhile ago. It took a long time and a lot of searching, but I finally found one that didn't make me look like an old fart. What's that? You say I still look like an old fart? Why you....

Bruce: Okay, I admit it...first glance I thought, "Now, that's a homely gal..." However, on second glance I figured out the deception and thought old G.W. could use a makeover.

It's easy to change your icon/image. Just upload the picture/photo you want and click on IMAGES under your name. When the images come up, click on SET AS MY ICON. You're done!

Should you? Why not? I change mine from time to time. Sometimes like now, I even subject my viewing public and fellow Gatherites to my face.

Bruce, I,too, used to wonder. I was not sure if you were a homely gal or a girliish guy. I couldn't tell. I didn't get the GWB,though I noticed the resemblance, shame on me for not looking closer into those eyes and THAT expression !!! Could you use THAT SMALL ASS photo as your icon? THAT would be TOO funny !!!

I have to say Bruce...it makes your funny comments funnier, and takes some of the sting out of your more critical ones...I mean I can actually get a good laugh just by scrolling down the comments and seeing that pic!

Just be true to yourself in whatever form that takes.

It took me a minute to figure out that was Bush in drag. At first it looked like just another little old lady that had savagely beaten with an ugly stick.

I kind of like your icon.
