Why is silence so frightening? Is it the voice we hear inside our own hearts? Thinking we are possessed, we are actually missing the voice of our own greater wisdom.

It seems to me that we are told that the most mature person will be the leader. The leader must make themselves prominent. To be prominent, we must be seen ... to be seen, we must use sound to direct the gaze.
We forget that the strongest leader knows how to listen and the person most vital to the function of an organization is the one who serves (and is often least heard).
The biggest misconception is that silence is an absense of something. It isn't. It is a fullness waiting to be absorbed, to be consumed, to be realized. It is a springboard that launches us into the panorama of opportunities, not just the pool. It is completeness waiting to be recognized.
Sue, I teach math. If I give silence in my teaching, my students automatically begin to talk. It is as if they have not learned to think!
Andrea, I think best when I get to bounce ideas off of someone else, but still, silence is needed to process posibilities and results.
Debra, I love what you said about silence being a fullness waiting to be absorbed. I think the very wholeness of Life can be found in the Silence.
Sheila, that happens to be one of my Favorite Simon and Garfunkel songs!
be well!
I really like this one.

God Bless Michelle
It's being alone too. I love to be alone. But my mind knows that someone is in the next room or next house or on the street. Those are the thoughts that disappear when no one's there.
Rony, I agree, Silence can be a wonderful space to find what I have lost, or forgotten.
Glome, what a wonderful comment! When I actually WANT, or PLAN to be alone, silence can be breathtakingly beautiful. Unfortunately, I am much too social!
Angela, thanks for coming by to read.
Renda, thanks for the comment. I think silence is most bearable when I am at peace with my own Self.
Thanks all of you, for reading!!!
peace,
Excellent thought provoking style snippet.
Oops. That's Rene's job, isn't it?
