"What have you accomplished this year?" The interviewer asked with eyebrows raised.
My mind attempted to formulate the perfect answer, but all I could think of was the four funerals, two of which I had managed by myself, including estates. One of which my husband did primarily by himself. Another in which we lost a dear family friend. I wouldn't consider that an accomplishment, really. But I managed. With my throat closing and tears at the back of my eyes, I found the answer the interviewer wanted wouldn't come. Maybe the perfect answer is, after facing that, I'm still standing.

Well done - both with the drabble and the events that inspired it.

Would it be the wrong thing to say if I told you I thought this was an awesome 100 Word Story? Even though it's heart wrenching?
You can tell so much in so few words! You are wonderful with that!
I am proud to be able to call you my Gather Twin :) even if I didn't get the creative writing genes that you have, lol
