thanks everyone, I appreciate it. It's just that the anniversary of my mother's passing is coming up...on May 30. It hits me pretty hard sometimes, and other times it's easier to handle, I'm sure you know what I mean.

Mary, this is a touching and well done drabble. The losses are deep, and believe me, we never stop missing our parents, but eventually the scar tissue keeps the pain from being so close to the top layer of our skin.

thanks everyone, for your comments. And no, Parul, unfortunately it's not fiction. As unbelievable as it was, there were really four within the one year. There were two more actually within the next year, 2005 and 2006 was a nightmare. But the interviewer portion was fiction.

Mary, a good article. I can relate, In Ocbober 2007 we lost 6 family members and two friends. October seems to be the month to die in my family. My Dad in 91, mom in 95, on and on. I believe my greatest achievement is that I am sitting here typing this note to you.

Pulls the reader into a moment of tension...a pressure in the context of stress and loss...well done painting this part of human experience to which we all can relate. Often that perfect response can only come after the moment. Why must perfection be so elusive?

Would it be the wrong thing to say if I told you I thought this was an awesome 100 Word Story? Even though it's heart wrenching?

You can tell so much in so few words! You are wonderful with that!
