my father when I was very young
Would tell wild tales to me
Of his very own pink crocodile
He rode in the Suwannee
We would look oh how close
So we might see him pass
And see our father longingly
Want to swim upon his back
You know son out of habit
I always look to see
That smiling pink crocodile
Staring back at me
Do not look at me so strangely
It is fact not fantasy
Look upon the Suwannee child
And wave to him, for me
Julia price 1973
I really believed I saw that crocodile
