Believe it or not my favorite with the kids was the 12 days of Christmas !!! Yes, in the summer. Lots of laughs. How fast can you sing after 5 GOLDEN RINGS.

I like listening to Josh Groban on road trips, but Matt won't let me.

And all I can think of is camp songs...I was born one night one morn when the whistle went boom boom....and my favorite, There once was a lady that swallowed a fly, I dunno why she swallowed a fly, perhaps she'll die. (She goes on to swallow several animals, birds ect. In the end she swallows a horse, and dies of course!)

But what amazes me is that my kids, now 24 n 26, still listen to Jackson Browne, Tom Petty and all the rest of the musicians I made them listen to in the house and on trips to florida when they were very young. I find it touching that they enjoy (in addition to the newer stuff they got me to love) the older music of my childhood. They were listening.....t

We sang 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm' and cowboy songs like 'Home on the Range'. Mostly, because cars then allowed too much fumes into the passenger section, I didn't sing on road trips, I was too busy being car sick. "Daddy, stop the car! I'm going to throw up!"

I always spring up with "Detour" there's a muddy road ahead . . .
Also, "Over the Rainbow"
When I was young my family loved to go on unplanned drives. My dad would say "Which way?" I was the one who always said "Let's go this way!" When I would spot an off highway road (usually non-paved) I said "Turn HERE!" I'm suprised my dad didn't get lost because we always ended up on old roads (many just logging roads) and never knew where we would come out. Always came out in interesting places after many miles. We saw beautiful scenery and loved stopping to watch wild animals I would spot. I was a great "spotter" and my family had a very difficult time seeing my discovery but, finally when the animal moved, they would see it (or them). I enjoyed scanning the mountains for wild life. I was proud that I had such great eye-sight. Sure wish I had those visual talents now. I think I miss that more than anything else I have lost with aging. Oops, I got off track but, bottom line here . . . I always took a little notebook along that listed fun songs to sing. We all loved those shared singing, sightseeing, laughing, etc. Great times in my younger life.
