Magi, thank you! It was a long ago thing that appeared again as I sat out on the back patio looking at a very overgrown wisteria vine.
Think I'll take an iced coffee, a bit hot yet here.

Outside of our house, we sometimes have a mixture of wild rose vines overgrown with beautiful wisteria; and somehow your incredible words bring that image to mind, too. Thank you!

I'm glad I don't have wisteria planted around my place if they can bring back those kind of memories of past love. I still have a hard enough time with my second husband after nine years. The bastard. Forgive my ranting. This was quite an amazing piece and the pictures add so much. You can tell it really touched me or I wouldn't be going on like this. Great job as always, Faith.

I'll take wisteria over a churlish or faithless lover any day of the week. The purple vine has inspired artists and lovers since Ancient Greece.

Appreciate your imaginative reverie, Faith. This week's Butter moon has had a similarly melancholy effect on my dreams, so I gave away my bed.

Feels a bit like an invisible bruise, Faith. I have a deep connection to the colour purple, and this is one of its very dark, very gripping sides.

The symbolic language of colors. I liked how you linked purple flowers with a bruised (purple) heart. Wait a minute, am I on to something here. Was there more than the obvious in the use of the color purple? Lord, everything I'm writing sound like a bad cliche. Here is what I was thinking, knowing your background, were you hurt by someone who had a purple heart? I know it isn't any of my business, but just tell me if I am onto something.

The repetition of "deep purple" throughout these melancholy memories in this lyrical dithyramb really invoke aching feelings in a sensitive reader, a true accomplishment, Faith. And the gorgeous picture brings it all home.

I just wish I could get that Deep Purple heavy metal ear worm you deeply invoked out of my head, where it is playing loudly, Duh duh duh, duh duh duh duh......

A kid from a farm finally talked a Doctor into trying a deep purple liquid vitamin as a Pernicious Anemia remedy because a Cuban Vet had taught it to him years earlier. It is mystifying how it could have been fatal in the U.S. up until that time. A human heart can be very purple with lots of vitamin B-12 along with every healthy cell in the body. I do not know if it has chelated cobalt. I do eat purple flowers and leaves. Love You!!

Wow! A very powerful post Faith. Music is usually what brings back memories for me. Sometimes it's hard. Mariah Caries song "Shake it off." Is pretty good and Tracy Lawerences song "Used to the Pain" Wow, what a song!

I love this poem. I think deceit is one of the hardest evils to try and understand. How is it that some people are sincere one minute and then insincere the next? Purple is the exact metaphor for it - like a bruise!

I guess I missed this some time back. As mentioned above by someone, sometimes old scars can itch. It happens at the oddest moments, doesn't it. If we dwell on them it is surprising how still powerful they can be at times. Nice poem, and picture that immediately take you back in time.
