Are you on the Tolle Road?
Eckhart Tolle is one of those famous people that I had never heard of until yesterday. An interview on the radio told me something about him.
Apparently he is about sixty, lives in Canada, and is a professional author, teacher, and smart fellow. Seems as though he has been doing just fine for a long time, but then Oprah bumped into him and now he is doing even better if you are talking money at least. Because of the Big O, about twenty-six million more people have become aware of his teachings.
I am sure I will murder his philosophy here, but let me give you a taste without writing a long post that will make you cross-eyed. He was deeply depressed until one day when he was 29, he had a big revelation. He became aware that his mind was making him depressed. So he decided that he would, in the future, use his mind, but not let it run his life. And it worked. Life seemed better. He appreciated everything more and was happy.
Another main part of his teaching is forget yesterday. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Live in the now. I believe he has written a book about “now.” He also says your ego will lead you down the wrong path. Try to lock it in the closet. I notice “ego” problems here on Gather. Some people get real mad when folks don’t see things their way. Truth be said, I am not so crazy about that myself.
So now that I have, I am sure, done a great disservice to Mr. Tolle, tell me what you know about him.

anyway , good review , I’ll check it out ?
That is kind of what I was thinkin
And obvious? Well, apparently not because it is not how we live. Most of us, most of the time, live very wrapped up in thinking what we need to do because of what others will think - whether fear or love based.
The other part of his "teaching", if you will, is the pain body. He speaks of emotional pain that we carry around, and how, when activated, serves to cause more pain.
It would take much too long to discuss here, but both books are wonderful.
jeni - guess it is easier to bump into Oprah if you have a best seller in your hand.
