I guess that is how the voting works.
To ensure the integrity of the contest we have developed processes that detect voting fraud and other irregularities. We run the processes periodically throughout the contest and again at the end of the contest, across all entries. If we determine that certain ratings or actions are intended to compromise the outcome of the contest we will take corrective actions. Therefore, rating averages can change throughout the contest and after the final voting period.
Thank you everyone for your participation and good luck!

This is a total and complete sham. Every single one of my entries was hit with at least 8 drive-by 1s or 2s this afternoon. Some of mine are excellent. Some by others (people I don't know) are excellent as well - check out Kylie's work, for example. Shame on drive-by raters.
MaryAnne: I appreciate you stopping by to read my comment and to let us all know that Gather keeps an eye on the way votes are cast. Of course everyone wants to feel like contests are won fair and square with no hostility at the end of it all. I hope the winner of this contest really deserves to win and images aren't overlooked just because they were victims of low ratings given purely out of jealousy or spite. I have seen some WONDERFUL entries this time around (I am not going to enter anything) and I think we all know what should win and what shouldn't even get close to the top 20. That being said... I look forward to seeing how this one turns out.
Good luck everyone!!!
I guess this is the true test of Gather's fraud detection 'processes'. If your ratings go back up soon, then they work. If they don't, they're a joke.
I just know when my ratings take a huge nose-dive, but I can never tell what anyone rated it - I can only assume.
Has anyone else noticed that as soon as your ratings go up within a few hours they are drove back down again? Or is it just me, lol?
I just wanted to say I am finally going through what is now under 7,600 pieces of gather new mail that is in my inbox on here. So with that in mind I have finally come to a piece of mail that was addressed to me in regards this article submission you have created to share with the gather community. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your piece with us here at gather. :o)
